As bad as things worked out for us last year. As unfortunate as some of those pick 6's were. As disappointing as the win/loss tally was..... The offense was still, in many ways, something to be really proud of. Really felt like we could points on the board with the best of 'em. This year....... not so much.
The offense was vastly better last year, we just had a QB that was young and didn't see the field well or look off receivers and we still had a better offense. The offensive coaching staff seems just as confused as JJ in the pocket.
Big mistake if you arent going to use him except for a token play here and there. Les also promised him a shot at QB and that really hasnt taken shape either. Shepard is no threat to leave early for the NFL. The NFL is no place for rail thin skill guys. He needs to have the strength of a Harvin to make the NFL and it will take a few years to get in that kind of physical shape.
Yes, if Les continues to use him like this he will never be a threat to make an NFL roster. What about all the player quotes during fall ball about how no one could get a hand on him. What plays were they calling for him in the fall? Where are those plays now? The LSU defense is pretty good, if Shep was tearing them up it seems like the staff could find a way to use him other than just in practice. The offensive coaching staff is asleep at the wheel this season. I really liked the offensive game planning and play calling the last two years, where did that offensive genius go?
Well duhhhh! I wasn't suggesting that he would leave this year. But he's likely to leave his junior year if he's the real deal like everyone is suggesting.
I dont think that Shep is now, nor ever will be a threat to leave early for the NFL. I don't care how good he is. With his size and the fact he doesnt have a real position, teams will be hesitant.
6-1, 190 is not small, amigo. He'll be over 200 pounds by the time he's NFL ready and there are an awful lot of NFL running backs and receivers that size.
another thing I don't like about it is the amount of time it takes to get the play in place - by the time everyone has it, the play clock is down to about 5 or less seconds, so the D can pretty well know when the ball will be snapped. Can't get into ANY kind of rhythm like that. I just don't care for it. :geaux:
I wasnt implying that. I was however implying that Shepard would "never" be a candidate to leave early until he became a physical freak like Harvin. This is Harvin "before" his junior year. Shep is light years from looking like this. BTW...I dont believe the measurements on Shep.
