I don't think they showed this on tv. I just watched the recording of the game in about 5 minutes...... Before the game, both teams were warming up. Then they had a face off at midfield with both teams being held back by coaches. All were jumping up and down, pointing, gesturing, etc. One of the best moments I have seen in the stadium. Here's to a random collection of thoughts on the game. Early on, the stadium was the loudest I've heard it in years. I could feel a steady reverberation within my inner ears. It was something I haven't experienced there in forever. Sadly though, it did not last beyond the first quarter, although the crowd did get really loud after that. The Florida touchdown. From my vantage point in the south end zone, opposite end of field, it was obvious that there was holding by UF receiver. Replay confirms it. Not that it mattered ultimately, but the old was blatant. Our defense. Great job to hold them to 13 points. HOWEVER, you really had the feeling that Florida could score when/if they needed to. They played it VERY conservative and very close to the vest. Very little passing game and just kept it simple. LSU D gave up lots of small gains and UF slowly and methodically worked them 'silly'. The bend but don't break defense is not exactly something to get excited about. It keeps them on the field far too long. They give up so many third down conversions. I would much rather see them be more aggressive and play more press coverage on the receivers. Offense.... Ughhh...... Dare I even think about it......... Last year we had a qb that was fearless. This lead to unbelievable pick 6's. We wondered why in the world Jefferson was not given a chance throughout the year. It was not until late in the season that he was given a chance. He performed well. Fast forward to this season. The kid is very timid and very scared. He is afraid to throw the ball and risk an interception. Maybe this is coaching, maybe it is him. I tend to believe it is a whole lot of both. Now we know why he never got a chance during the season last year. Sometimes the alternative is just as bad as the current option. NEVER thought I would say this but........... I would like to see Lee get some opportunities this season and SOON. Lastly, how in the phuck doesn't Shepard get a few touches last night!??!
I said last night in chat, that the second series of the forth quarter I would have sent Lee in. Not because I think Lee was a better choice, just because at least it would show the coaches realize their gameplan sucked and they were trying to do something about it. Plus with young kids like this, Lee would have come off the bench with a fiery attitude that no one in the current huddle actually had.
Nice roundup Grad. Pretty much spot on. I was disappointed in the crowd noise because you could tell on TV that it got real quiet after the first quarter. I think the crowd sensed Florida was just doing the bare minimum to win and we couldnt do anything about it. In the end I doubt the crowd would have made a difference but the quote Brett had up all week was pretty much proven true.
JJ is/was just far too rattled to have a chance of being effective. Any change of pace would have been welcomed.
Oh the crowd can make a difference and it was on the first few plays. The place was electric after the false start and then the timeout on the second UF play.
Another thing. That weird head motion the UF center was doing right before the snap, drawing LSU offsides over and over. Happy to see the LSU coaching staff make a halftime adjustment against that at half time. They put an end to that early in third quarter. When he did it, they immediately jumped across the line and popped his azz. Drawing the false start penalty on UF. Here it comes though.......... HOWEVER..... Why can't these ajustments be made during the flow of the game. We need to be able to do these things on the fly. Waiting until halftime doesn't cut it! The damage was already done, and then some!
The crowd feeds on the team. They keep screaming as long as the Tigers are playing hard, even if they are losing, as in the 2003 Georgia game. The crowd got frustrated when both lines kept picking up stupid penalties and the offense could not get anything going. This crowd wanted to be loud but the Tigers deflated them, not FLorida.
Damn. had a good answer and lost it posting from phone. grad was spot on. but our own mistakes took crowd out of it. not floridas play. will post thoughts when i get back to ok. on road now.
Well, if we are going to boast about Tiger Stadium then we need to be getting loud and staying in the game throughout, as long as a victory it is within reach. My throat is sore as hell this morning becuase I yelled throughout. Just because our tigers disappoint or "deflate" us, it doesn't mean that we can't do our part to pump some energy back into the stadium and team.
This was talked about during the TV broadcast. Danielson called it from the opening play. That bimbo on the sidelines said the LSU staff told the D-line to hit him next time it happened and this was in the 1st half! Why the players waited until the 2nd half to do something the coaches told them to do in the first half is beyond me.
