Ouch --- The game really hurt, but I was way too busy this weekend to join in with any posts, but sure appreciate all who vented and shared their views --- I guess that misery loves company. All we needed to be great team is a good quarterback and in the second have we finally get just that and in spades, but CLM lays an egg. We should be the favorite in the balance of our games including a descent bowl game and this will be a good year, if not great. Let's bring it next week. Fortunately, we have a very good recruiting class coming in and while we will miss some favorites next year--- I'm already looking forward to beating bama at bama.
Question.............did you do the purple on purple??? If so, is that "combo" now a jinx??? ANYTHING else you might suggest?
not for me. while both losses to the gumps have been numbing i see what we CAN have at quarterback. that's refreshing! and it should help recruiting too! we showed that with a balanced attack we can beat...no, dominate, ANYONE. over 400 yards against that defense while pretty much shutting down that offense! we should've won that game, no doubt. our balance has been so one sided until the biggest game of the year that i believe it took a couple of quarters for our players to realize we CAN beat these guys straight up. i believe that the idea of having to have trick plays to win wouldn't have been there for clm if he would've allowed the same type of game plan from the first game. and we would've started the game even more confident if we had experienced the same from the get go, because we did it before. we don't have to wear teams down and take over in the second half, we can sock them in the mouth from the get go. i like what i see...if only it would've started from the first game and built to now. we've had great teams for years now, with one shaky piece. hope that's behind us now!
Hope people aren't expecting to see the new improved mett from here out. Will likely be a slightly better than the previous weeks. Can't replicate Saturdays atmosphere.
Congrats to the players for the effort they put towards this game. It is a shame that they have been let down by the idiot coach named Les Miles.
Absaloutley not.....in the NC game we were completely dominated, in this game lsu was what they have not been in a few years, very very effective in the passing game and able to run the ball as well, THIS is the team I have been waiting to see for 3 years now. LSU lost this game on a great call by the bama OC, a screen against a blitz.....they just caught us on the worst possible play. Les pulled out all the stops, none of them worked, but it's what we needed to do, be agressive take chances, and we did that, my only second guessing of the coaches was on the last bama drive, I didn't like the fact that we were sitting back in a soft zone rather than playing press coverage and trying to take away the out routes, bama had no timeouts left, you knew they were going to work the sidelines.
Maybe not but I think that game more than any other should have given the coaches trust of mett, open up the offense and let him throw it, he made some super throws against very good coverage, I think this allows the to open up the offense now.
