I completely agree. It's not unrealistic to expect some improvement in certain areas of the team such as in the defensive play from last year, but to see our troubles on the OL and at QB and difficulty in executing the game plan causes genuine concern.

I don't think the level of concern justifies any action on replacing coaches but maybe some players need to be given more/less playing time.

I really don't expect to see us follow the same path as last year's team...even if we lose a couple of games, because I believe the coaching staff knows what to do to prevent last year's late season meltdown. I don't want to go through that again. For me, the way the team lost was worse than losing itself.

The next three games will tell us a lot about correcting problems.

I agree with last statement! I don't see this team being last year and problems are not close to being the same. This team has more of a tude than last year . Crowton and his QB are not in tune on the field and this sideline thing has got to based on JJ not being able to read the D.

For me it all starts there then you throw in a young center to the OL who is the QB of the line and it just seems not to be working. Playing calling seems to be a mixed bag also.

I would like to see a focused attack on Sat night with a nice mix of power running with the truck and play action off that. CLM says we are throwing down field ! I would just like to see 3 or 4 first downs in one series to get things started.

The guys who eventually make it to LSU and other major programs are probably the same ones that "get it" in middle school.

Obviously, each level up is a huge step up with a big learning curve.

We have good athletes, but we don't seem to be achieving at a top level at this point in time. I'm hoping that will change; however, I don't think it's because we have a bunch of players that "don't get" the game. Patrick Peterson, for instance, is one of the most naturally-gifted football players I've ever seen, as if the game was made for him.

JJ also has some natural football IQ, but I feel like he's being a bit handcuffed.

Just to add my .02 I think Cliff nailed it, you got a very young QB with an OL that is struggling a bit right now. That isnt a good combo no matter what level you play on. There is no experience behind him. JL may be a good QB but the coaches must have even less faith in him. We have a butt load of talent, but so does every SEC team. We are struggling against SEC defenses, so is every other offense in the SEC. I know we have big problems, but so does every team in the SEC. Fla cant hita big play(without a hold) bama's qb is vunerable. Tenn is inconsistent. UGA I dont even know what to say. Ole Miss is a joke. SEC is tough, there isnt htat much difference between the 11 of us (not counting vandy here). We are going to have a good yr. We will be better at QB next yr. Its going to be okay.

Here is the deal. JJ can't read the D. He had R Randle open 2 times in FL game and Randle stopped his route once to do jumping jacks to try to get JJ attention. The OT are doing their job; however, JJ isn't moving up into the pocket but backing up into the rush. It is a matter of getting JJ to see what is happening on the field and getting the ball to his receivers.

i can't agree that anyone on the offensive line is playing at a high level right now. JJ is making it worse with his lack of pocket movement (or just going backwards) but it's not all on him.

the qb is the most visible part of the team and therefore takes the most criticism.

the opposite is going on with the saints right now. granted brees is playing off the charts but a huge hunk of that is his line is playing waaaaayyyyy above their heads right now. yet, they don't get much credit.

“I like the development of our quarterback who is currently our starter. I think Jarrett Lee is competing everyday. I think he competed extremely well in the open week. I think the opportunity for him to come in and play certainly may arise. There is no preconceived notion at this point.” -- Les Miles

    Translation:

"I'm not benching Jefferson. But Jarrett Lee is ready to play. I think he sold the coaches this week. I think that we will certainly play him. There is nothing more that I'm going to give the Auburn DC."
