Just to clarify to all those in the internet galaxy that happen to view this: this series against UC-Irvine will be the last series ever played in LSU's current 70-year-old Alex Box stadium (this stadium is the granddaddy of college baseball stadiums).

Honestly, the article we are discussing in this thread here was disappointing when it comes to the great historical significance of this event (I honestly do believe that there are other essays already out there about this event in history that are on the level of the Declaration of Independence or the Gettysburg Address, as so it should be).

Also, for the benefit of all, I want to ask this question (I'm sorry if it has been answered many times in all the posts here in the TF universe). But the question for the benefit of all Tiger fans is this:

What are the chances of anyone getting into Alex Box stadium to watch this historic event of the last series in the current Alex Box stadium (LSU wins this series, we go to Omaha)? I wouldn't be surprised if the Box has already been vastly over-sold for this historic event, and that there is pretty much no chance that any LSU fan who wants to travel to Baton Rouge to witness their last experience of watching a game in the current Alex Box stadium will be able to enter the stadium. But then again, this really is all speculation on my part. Is this true or not?

    really?

I liked it. short and to the point. It wasn't about the history of the Stadium (and wasn't intended to be). It is about the Box not going quietly into the night.

I'm going to guess that tickets will be all but impossible to come by. If my experience this past weekend is any indication, there will be just as many people on campus looking for tickets as there will be inside watching the games.

Thanks for the answer Nutriaitch. A lot of LSU people are asking about this. And no, I didn't mean to make it sound like you have some sort of flaw as a Tiger baseball fan. Nootch, you are one of the greatest Tiger Baseball fans in all of history, that is indisputable. Regarding that issue, a great article or essay could be written on you as well, as so it should be.

I believe everyone that wanted to get in the game (that was there outside the stadium) was able to get in this past weekend. I would think you would have a pretty good chance if you show up and wait for standing room only tickets.

not even close. I know about a dozen personally that didn't get in (me and my wife included, as well as few other posters here). there were people stacked 4 to 5 deep all around the outside of the Box. There wasn't enough room to put any more in.

Amazing what a difference a month makes, and winning. That is great to know that fans want to see our Tigers that badly.

Okie, you are always True to your stance that baseball is your favorite sport to watch, and sure, the memories invoked by that article will be great for you as a #1 baseball fan. But you were also a fine arts major, and I've seen that you come across like you have at least some possible top-notch artistic ability when it comes to painting. If you saw some second-rate painting of the Box, that would also invoke memories of the Box, it would also give a flavor of the Box and what it would be like to be there, and you might love that second-rate painting of the Box in that regard... but that doesn't make it a first-rate painting of the Box, which I do believe you could produce if you so gave it a shot (in fact, if you really do have the painting talent that I believe you might have, I'd think that it'd be fun to participate in an auction competing to lay down money to have your first-rate painting of the Box on my wall, especially since you are such a hard-core LSU baseball fan.

In other words, I'm just saying that there are many better articles and essays and posts written about the Box than the one we are discussing in this thread, in fact, I wouldn't be that surprised to see you, or Nootch, or Tirk or many other TF people or LSU people write a post or article or essay that blows the article we are discussing out of the water. I don't mean that in a bad way at all to any of you people, especially since I believe all of you people are hard-core fans, and I believe all of you have it in you to write a first-rate article about the Box if you sat down to do it, and when I say first-rate, I really do think you people could write an article about the Box that is one the level of the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, etc.

So what are some good back-up plans? You can park right there off Nicholson on the very side of the Box and watch the game if you get on top of your truck, right? I've seen people who had a fine time of trying to do that before. What about the married-student residence (if that is what it is still called) right there off Nicholson behind right field? I know people that have enjoyed that view. Anybody have any other ideas of how to see the game from outside the stadium?
