Texas was rated higher than Auburn. Georgia plays Notre Dame tomorrow night in a prime time matchup. Texas A&M played Clemson. So does South Carolina. Florida - Miami looked like a better game when it was scheduled.
all of the ooc games should be at the beginning of the year, all 3 of them,.. shouldn't have a mid-year cupcake break ................................................................... Duck's weak spot is at receiver, our only exceptional one last year went to the NFL have a senior grad transfer to replace him, but he's been hurt and hasn't played this year, I think he'll play tomorrow Oregon brought in 5 highly rated freshman receivers, 3 of them got injured before the first game, one out for the year, 2 come back in 3 or 4 weeks a sure handed short pass senior receiver, our best special team guy and emergency safety, he too was hurt before the season, he'll be out another month our best TE hasn't played yet, he's iffy tomorrow against furd,.. but we're solid without him starting center won't play, some think his backup is better at receiver kinda sucks, we're basically forced to use the same guys that kept dropping the ball last year. we have a new receivers coach, a couple of them have stepped up their game, but they're little guys our backup FG kicker quit the team The rest of the positions are in good shape Oregon 47 Stanford 17
and a gazillion lopsided matchups with a million more to come,.. I guess I'm picking on the SEC, but the other conferences grow fat on cupcakes too we fans are the losers
I disagree. That would lessen the chances of scheduling 2 highly ranked OOC teams if they have to play the games during such a short time period. USC plays Notre Dame every season but not near the beginning. This year's game is Oct. 12 giving the Trojans a chance to play a couple of OOC and a couple of conference games before then. Look at the Big 10. All teams play their 3 OOC games and then there are no intersectional matchups after 3 weeks. Those games draw a lot of national interest. And I don't like playing 9 conference games. You have to play 5 road conference games every other season while only getting 4 at home. Maybe if they went to a 14 game schedule and played 10 conference opponents home and home every year but they are not likely to ever do that. Only 2 PAC teams have every played a national championship game and only USC has won any. In the SEC 5 teams have won a natty and Georgia played for one against SEC opponent Alabama. Looks like most of your injured players are underclassmen. All of LSU's missing players are juniors and seniors who play big time roles on defense. I'm glad we don't have to rush them back on the field for 3 more weeks. We can beat Vanderbilt and Utah State without them. Hopefully they are at their best when we play Florida and then the gauntlet that is the SEC. If he was any good he wouldn't be the backup kicker now would he?
Fans may not like paying for tickets to cupcake games but if playing them at the right times during the season gives your team a chance to grow and to take a mid season breather that puts them in better shape for the home stretch run for the conference and national titles the fans are ultimately the winners. Despite the fact that Northwestern Louisiana is a punching bag I enjoyed seeing Joe Burrow operate the new and exciting offense. It game the players more experience getting in synch with each other and it gives the coaches insights on what needs fixing and how to fix it. This is college football, not the NFL where all you need to do is get into the playoffs as a wild card to make a run. A team can suffer an early season loss to a quality OOC team and still have hope. Two losses and well, maybe next year. If your Ducks can run the table and the SEC ends up with only one undefeated or one loss team you still have a shot to get into the playoffs. I don't see any team on Oregon's remaining schedule who you can't beat. LSU has 4 teams left who could be a fly in the championship ointment. 5 if you count a possible SEC championship game against Georgia. If we make the playoffs we certainly will have earned the right to be there.
you're right, that kicker was bad last year and he got beat out this year by a freshman,.. the sucky part is, our only other backup kicker got hurt soon after he quit no, just the 3 hurt freshman receivers,.. the center, TE, and two receivers are seniors about the ooc games, BB, just my opinion, I've enjoyed the discussion
that damn pirate at wazzu has our number, won four straight, we got em at home this year, that'll help a lot
I always enjoy talking about football. Basketball and baseball too. Nootch and Fish sound like they enjoy making their podcast but from what I have heard they agree on everything. Some disagreement would make it more interesting. Not totally adversarial but maybe an SEC guy, a PAC guy, a Big 10 guy, etc.
