Hey, we went 97 years without canceling a game and the odds are in our favor that it wont happen again this season
The stupid lightning rule has only been in effect for a few years, though. There will likely be more of this to come in the future.
The thing about the lightning rule is they put the players inside, but all the fans, who are much higher up, are left to fend for themselves.
They warned the stadium fans to seek shelter just before the first storm hit. They don't do that unless they have to because half the fans will head for their cars and leave. There is not enough room on the ramps to hold the crowd.
I mentioned this in the game thread. The players and coaches down on the field are the safest by far, its the poor bastards sitting on a metal bench 5 stories in the air next to a metal light pole that is 10 stories in the air that are in the most danger.
