http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26826927/ guy makes the argument in the article that USC must win every game convincingly to stay at 1#, because of how weak their conference is. How many agree with this. I know I do because Oregon lost to Boise St, this weekend. Pac 10 this year is really bad. .
I agree the PAC 10 is always weak, although this season may take it to a new low. However the condoms play in one of if not the largest media markets in the world and the talking heads (AP poll) will all be clinging to their crotch. The coaches(coaches poll) don't have time to watch games and rely on the talking heads for their info on who's hot and who's not. I wouldn't expect USC to fall without a loss or an extremely close game against a really bad team.
If USC wins every game coming from behind by only one point they will be in the BCS title game. The excuse will be that they aren't challenged in their own conference and thats why they don't play with their "A" game each week or some other BS reason. Its all about money and when USC is on top the media makes money.
I've been fooled by the media into believing that the PAC-10 is actually a strong conference the last couple of years, yet they continue to disappoint. I think I am going back to just assuming they will suck every year. It makes me seem smarter.
The Pac-1 is a joke. Unfortunately that means the condoms will cakewalk to the BCSCG and get to play a team beat up by real opponents over the course of the season. We need another Stanford choke job to stop the frauds, AND two undefeated teams from BCS conferences. Otherwise the condoms will win a BCSCG and the media blowjob will resume.
Whats going on Tiger Fans, im new here and this is my first post. :geaux: I totally agree that the Pac 10 is extremely weak this year, but its been like this for the past few years. Other than SC being and Elite team, no other team has done anything. Yes Oregan last year turned some heads and were very talented but they couldn't hold it together when DD went down. As for Cal and UCLA and Arizona State, these teams are always over hyped and show it at the end of seasons. Pac 10 is always overrated and this year the whole nation sees it. :tigereye:
I get the feeling the media doesn't want another SEC team in the title game this season. They are pushing a USC/Oklahoma title game very hard. The media is always going to push their favorites to the forefront (Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC) whenever they can. If Notre Dame had of won against Michigan St. you could all but guarantee they would have been in the top 20, no matter how ugly they looked. Unless USC just has another monumental meltdown they should waltz through the rest of the season unschathed and be in the MNCG.
Once again, the only thing that matters is a SEC Championship. The BCS is whatever one else plays for because it is easy.
The bottom line, like the article states, is that Georgia got bumped from #1 down to #3 over the first couple of weeks because their wins weren't "impressive enough" either by result or competition. With the weakness of the PAC-10 clearly evident, do you think USC would get bumped down if they beat, say Stanford by 10 or Oregon St. by 7? I highly doubt it. USC will remain number 1 unless they lose. It's a sorry situation, but it is what it is. Add to that the fact that everyone is acting so "impressed" by the Big 12, OU ain't goin' nowhere either unless they fall, so the SEC champ better be undefeated, and get some help, too. This could be 2004 all over again unless people come to their senses. All that being said, there's a LONG way to go. Fun to speculate, but anyhting can happen at this point. That's why we love it! :milesmic:
