That's true. He's a good player. Plus, he's really hot. (I was sitting on the front row of the endzone where Arkansas warmed up for that game and enjoyed the view.) Oh, I'm sure you guys don't really care about that, do you?

My thoughts exactly!! Give them time! We are LOADED with talent and it will show in time..

They played better last night despite the weather. The offensive line needs more work and the defense also. Way too many missed tackles. Miles is being conservative for a reason. I cant wait to see RS bust loose.

from what i saw we were getting a decent pass rush we just lost containment a few times and allowed vandy to step up and throw it. But we definitely blasted their QB more than a couple times as he was throwing it.

I want to start off by saying that last night was a better overall performance by LSU. The D played much, much better last night. The DL was getting a better push. The tackling was much better as well. Less big plays given up.
Williams is finally starting to play to show his talent now that he is getting touches. Shepard showed his talent when he touched the ball. The kid has some serious talent.

I really loved how we came out throwing the ball early on. The problem is the passing never evolved. JJ has to set his feet better. He has the arm but too often isnt accurate in leading the receiver nor touch on deeper passes. Overall though LSU is WAY too conservative. Its so easy to tell what play is coming up next. Too many bubble screen and slants. You have to stretch the field. With the abundance of talent LSU has we shouldnt struggle like that to put up points. JJ has to step up and coaches have to open up some.

THe OL has been a real weakness. They block well on the wide runs but no holes up the middle. The pass blocking isnt good either. This was supposed to be a real strength. The option runs and sweeps have done well though. Shep should be getting more touches. IMO Id swap him with Holliday. Id also replace Holliday as punt returner. He is too much of a liability with his fumbling on returns. I think all the checks have to stop. LSU cant get a rhythm with the constant checks. I really think thats the biggest problem with the O right now.

I was very happy with the overall performance of the D. The hitting and tackling was pretty solid. The DL was making a push. Id like to see them keep better containment though. The D does over pursue at times or take poor angles. I think the D has a ton of talent and just needs a lil more reps. They will keep improving. Its not the dominant D of years pass but its still a very solid, could be excellent D.

Overall I love the potential of this team. The O could be as explosive as any O in the country. A lot of variables though with the coachin, JJ, and the OL. We have the playmakers. I think the D will continue to improve. I dont think LSU is playing at a BCS level but the potential is there.

I agree. I think that the pass rush needs to be better, but the DL was not getting pushed around like they were at Washington.

I believe both will happen. As has been mentioned before, the coaches are bringing this quarterback along slower than they were able to when Lee was forced into duty last season. Also there is no need to show more of the offense than is needed to win this early in the season.

Finally, I think its going to be a long season with some really huge games coming with Florida at home and Bama, Ole Myth, and Jawja on the road. It's impossible to be at an emotional, professional, and physical peak for every game and I'm sure the coaches are saving some of each for bigger, more important games. We've all seen teams that seemed to only play hard enough to win . . . good teams do that some times.

One of Skip's championship techniques was to have his teams peaking at tournament time. They might drop some games early as Skip tested his lineup and strategies but they peaked at tournament time and won championships. LSU can't afford to peak at tourney time in football, they will have to peak at mid-season to play three top-10 teams. Les and his coordinators are smart enough to know this.

I'd keep Holiday in the mix. When they kick it to him, he's a threat and when they kick it away from him, they kick it short.

Perhaps, but this is the SEC, which is full of pro-style defenses and we must have a pro-style offense that's capable of checking at the line. Young QB's get better by doing it. We must be able to do it against Bama, Ole Miss and Florida.

I agree, but I think we still haven't shown that we can pressure the QB with four linemen. We have to develop a better pass rush before Ole Miss and Florida or they will pick us apart.

I have no problem with the checking off. It's that they don't call the second play in the huddle. We have to stop and have the entire offense look to the sidelines for the call. This slows the game down and takes it out of the QB's hands. He is calling a check, with no idea what they are checking in to.

I agree that you cant show all your cards but LSU still has to keep the opposing D more honest by going down the field more.

I think Holiday is certianly dangerous but Id replace him down near the goal or in close games. He could be a gamebreaker but his hands are scary.

I agree, Id love to see the DL get ever better. I think we trying to find which mix works best. Like I said before, I think this is a solid DL but not the dominant lines LSU has recently had. Downs, Nevis, Edwards, Aghayere, and Alem have looked the best IMO. Its a young DL so we will have to blitz while they mature. I agree the rush has to improve for the bigger games. Id also add angles and we could still use to surer tackling. Its just not quite the dominant D we are use to.

This. He did this several times and hesitated on open receivers. He also still has trouble putting touch on the ball and still tries to laser it to his receivers. He will get better, it just takes time.

The concern right now IMO is the right side of the O-line. They have gotten blown up several times over the first couple of games. It's one glaring weakness that needs a lot of work, since our young QB needs all the protection against the pass rush he can get.
