agree 100% these are the same people who say we will beat ole miss b/c they are ole miss. i wonder if some people even watch other teams play football. bobby johnson is a great coach and is doing great things at vandy. also i would say that the defense improved from week 1 to week 2. there were some dropped passes that killed them but we only gave up 7. special teams has a lot more work but i thought the weakest spot (helton) improved especially in the rain. JJ is doing everything one would reasonably (reasonably being the operative word) expect from a 19 yr old qb. no game killing mistakes, sure he has some fundamental things he's gotta work on, that will come with time. the d-line actually played a little better (i think, i need to watch the replay) but the o-line has me worried. is this a coach stud thing? an overestimation by fans and by miles? i know one thing, never underestimate the luxury of a capable and experienced center (t bob will get there, just not now) lastly, minus a fumble, i'm totally on the RS bandwagon now (not meaning i want him to start but definitely want to see him play). he just needed to get hit and fumble once while playing wr to get that out of his system. (like matt saracen on friday night lights). this team has the luxury of its 1st four games being relatively easy compared to the rest of the schedule. let's let the tigers work out these kinks in sept. and let's re-open the "i don't like where we are" talk" after miss st. ok lastly for real this time....OOOhhhh laaa lahhhhh beating K state was the best thing that could've happened for us this week.
jefferson hasnt made any mistakes that hurt this team yet. not bad for a newb--although two easy picks were dropped these first two weeks. i think that offsets the lack of passing down field just yet but 1) you have to look down field and get the damn safeties off the line. those dudes were up in our jock at the line. 2) JJ will make some mistakes and as mediocre as we have been on offense, it will likely cost us games in which he does unless we become more explosive. i agree with sf, we are probably a year away but it will be fun to watch it come together like beatlemania. yeah another case of eyes deceiving you. they looked a lot worse than those stats showed. no one came away thinking the defense played well. not sure what to make of that. maybe we arent as bad as we look but we do have a long, LONG way to go. im starting to truly believe we dont have the talent upfront.
I agree. We have some very special receivers, though, and I expect the coaches want to get the ball in their hands just as soon as Jefferson can manage it.
Didn't Jacob Hester fumble after his first carry as a freshman--only to NEVER fumble again? Maybe it is a matter of getting it out of one's system...
yeah i was even there in person to see it. however the scenery in athens was much better than that game was. (who coached that game again???)
twice. the last one was in that great r-kansas game. the circle of life. first and last regular season games.
couldn't have been, he's the greatest coach of all time and he never would have let that happen to a superior program like LSU. in fact, i don't ever think he lost a game here, or had teams that made mistakes, or qb's that looked inexperienced and he definitely had a defense that never made mistakes, especially recurring ones like failure to account for a back coming out of the backfield on passing plays.
Ah, yes, the great R-kansas debacle. I've tried to forget most of that game. Especially that 4th and 10 we gave up to Casey Dick and Peyton Hillis that would've ended the game in the 1st OT.
