we are still misfiring on offense and the defense is still missing too many tackles. Our defensive line looks like our weak point. (who would've thought) They really need to step it up for us to be competitive in SEC play. Also where was Patrick Peterson tonight.
how bout they had around 200 yards the HOLE game and we still thew all over them IN THE RAIN. IMO we looked really good if you consider the weather...
I am very disappointed in the offensive line. Les said this was gonna be the best o line in the nation. Hell they are not even the best o line in Baton Rouge. The entire defense is set up to fail. Our base package is a soft zone. It kills us because we drop the line backers off the line and if they run against it thye have 6 on 4 blocking our d line and nobody else anywhere around the line to make a tackle. Not to mention we had at least 30 missed tackles tonight as well. As for peterson, he didnt have to do much. Vandy is probably the worst passing team we will face all year and they just stayed away from him when they did actually throw the football. I will say when we played man I dont think thye gained a yard. Maybe we should do that more.
I understand it was raining but with the talent and speed we have on offense we should be putting up Florida like numbers esp. against teams like Vandy.
I would hardly say we threw all over them. We threw for 138 yards. Lafell (a possible #1 pick in the spring) caught 7 passes. Take away the 20 yarder he caught, and the other 6 went for 18 yards. That's 3 yards per catch. Tolliver....3 for 21. 0 TDs throwing. JJ got sacked 3 times and hit as he threw about 5 times. Yes, the rain played a big factor, but our pass blocking must improve, and JJ must go through his progressions quicker. He takes too long to find the 2nd or 3rd option if the primary receiver is covered.
Yes we still have some work to do, but if you were expecting a slaughter against Vandy you had your expectations too high. Also, you haven't been watching Vandy the past 2 yrs. For the record this defense held them to 7 pts and 200 yds, I'd say thats pretty good. Especially since this same offense put up over 500 yds and 45 pts the week before.
Watch the game again and count how long JJ holds onto the ball on most pass plays... Its not all on the O-Line...
Its just a matter of LSU fans Expecting to much from LSU.. Your better off thinking of LSU as a brand new team. New coaches, new players and a new scheme.
