So we’re talking about the erosion of precedent here. Ask the democrats how they feel about Dirty Harry Reid eroding the filibuster rule. Without his actions it’s unlikely we would have Justices Gorsuch or Kavanaugh on the SCOTUS.
Likewise Trump took advantage of Obama’s erosion of Executative orders to make policy changes that the democrats hate.
Whatever you think of a specific policy it is important that any act our leaders take be weighed as much on the impact it will have on the future of our polity as the short term benefit of the action. As you see from the examples above our recent leadership both left and right has not done their duty to the future.

Here is my school story. Teaching 8th grade algebra. Front row was the stereotypical 8th grade nerd/dork. Behind him was a very pretty girl, who was, shall I say, developing early!

We had just returned from lunch and she must have noticed some crumbs or something on her blouse. She brushed her blouse off and asked the guy if she had gotten the crumbs, or whatever, off her blouse. He said no, and she brushed her shirt again. The guy’s eyes were bulging out as she kept trying to brush off the crumbs.

At some point, I began to fear the nerd was gonna pass out, so I called a halt, and began the class.

I doubt that one kid will ever be the same!

I’m sure quite a few are cheering President Trump on. Be careful what you ask for as there may be short term gain but there is long term damage to our system of government. The overreach of executative power is taking the country to a dangerous place. This is not a left or right issue as unfortunately both sides have contributed mightily. Obama was slammed several times by the SCOTUS for unconstitutional executive orders. Trump likewise used Obama’s precedent and today has taken the country another step down the road to perdition. Be careful what you ask for, because when a leftist uses this to take away our guns or car...or farting cows there won’t be a leg to stand on when you try to stop it.

    Except....

"The 1976 National Emergencies Act gives presidents sweeping authority as well as allowance in federal regulations to declare an "immigration emergency" to deal with an "influx of aliens which either is of such magnitude or exhibits such other characteristics that effective administration of the immigration laws of the United States is beyond the existing capabilities" of immigration authorities "in the affected area or areas." The basis for such an invocation generally includes the "likelihood of continued growth in the magnitude of the influx," rising criminal activity, as well as high "demands on law enforcement agencies" and "other circumstances."

The gun rights/gun control argument does not apply here.

The 2nd Amendment stands alone on its own merit.

Sleep well if you believe that. See what happens when a leftist democrat (and they’re all leftists) gets in the White House.

Kind of like when the Dems cut the 60 vote deal in the Senate....what was it, 5 years and they were regretting the hell out of it. I’d wager that a vastly greater number of Americans would be more in favor of National Emergency fo Climate Change.

Until they see the consequences of the socialist power grab. By then it will be too late. As the wise man said.....”Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.”
