That's not true every year though. Sometimes you gotta do it twice, sometimes you get lucky and only gotta do it once.
Flip flop alert. STOP! We were talking about if/when it did happen like Engineer pointed out about if the East and West Champions happened to play during the season.....(Which I don't agree with, btw, in the 12 team format for scheduling). YOU said if it meant doing it TWICE in one year...... Don't throw in that "It's not every year though" spin.
How the hell is that a flip flop? IF you play someone in the regular season, and then have to play them again in SEC CG (example us vs UGA '03, then PLAY THE GAME. IF you meet up with someone you have not played yet (example: us vs. Tenn this year), so be it. I haven't changed my stance on this at all. I apologize, instead of a short saying explaining my stance on the championship game, I will use the following: To be the best, you have to beat the best. If by chance, you should be required to meet up with the best on multiple occassions, you are then required to beat them in the final such meeting which is refered to as a "championship game". Upon the conclusion of said "championship game", the winner shall be crowned champion. Question for you now. Why do you disagree with having to potentially play the same team twice?
if you did this you need to consolidate your east and west divisions into 1, and take a couple of teams off your schedule every year like the B10 does.
The Ohio State #1 and Michigan #2 media frenzy was way over - rated from the very start. Both Ohio State and Michigan were smacked around in the bowl games. WEAK conferences prefer not to have championship games because it gives their one or two decent teams an even better chance to go undefeated. Then they rely on guys like Herbstrait to talk about how good those teams must be and how they deserve a shot at the MNC. In a head to head playoff system, the Big Ten would get its' sorry ass handed to them yearly.:thumb: I just wish that Les Miles would say something like, "Why would I want to go to a weaker conference when I currently coach in the best conference in the country?"
We would also have to drop a team from the conference. I'm pretty sure 12 team conferences are required to play a championship game. I may be wrong. I don't feel like looking it up.
