And when LSU wins SECCG's, their reward is a home game in a BCS bowl... You don't think other teams think THAT's unfair??? Atlanta is the host for the SECCG because of it's central location to almost all SEC teams (LSU and Arkansas are the farthest) away. ATL is roughly 3 hours away from Knoxville...3-4 hours away from Columbus, SC...3-4 hours away from Nashville....5 hours from Gainesville....3 hours from Tuscaloosa....1.5 hours from Auburn.... You can't please everyone, but it's pretty damn close.
They should do away with the SECCG every year LSU doesn't play in it from now on. Kind of redundant though because they will end up having one every year.
Like others have said, all BCS conferences should have a CG. I realize some conferences do not have enogh teams, but give them 1-2 years to gain new members, then strip them of BCS status if they don't comply.
Exactly, like everything else there are pros and cons. Personally I like being in the best conference and one that crowns a true champion.
I don't care why Atlanta is the host...It's a home game for Georgia. The BCS location is a different argument. You play for a BCS championship, which rotates locations, or some other BCS bowl. If you get lucky, you get the one in New Orleans. The difference is...it's not compulsory. In addition to that, in the SECCG, you are still fighting for a BCS bowl. I'm not disputing what you say is true, but you won't convince me that Georgia doesn't carry a yearly advantage with regard to the SECCG.
I think somewhere like Birmingham, Alabama is more in the middle of the SEC, speaking geographically, than Atlanta. But Atlanta is one of the biggest cities in the southeast, and has arguably the best facilities (Georgia Dome), and has a semblance of night life there. I don't mind it in ATL, but maybe they can switch it up to somewhere in the west or something. Oh well, it is a good test and prelude to the MNC for the SEC Champion. Some may bring up Tennessee in 2001, but honestly, if you're #2 in the country and can't beat a 9-3 team playing with a passing-challenged backup QB, then you don't deserve to be in the national championship game. The championship game makes sure the best out of the SEC gets in, and I can't think of any team that won the SECCG and lost the National Championship game.
