Yes. Rosenblatt was helped by a southern wind. Center field was northeast of home plate. TDA is helped by a north wind. Center field is south east of home plate. The prevailing wind this time of year is from the south. Rosenblatt also sat on a hill whereas TD is downtown level with surrounding buildings.
Eric Filia with the 2 RBI hits so far today. he's the guy that had the RBI hit against us PLUS the hard hit to Bregman that Bregman couldn't get that scored their other run he was 4-for-5 in a super regional victory against Cal State Fullerton, and Baseball America is raving about him after his heroics in Game 1 vs Miss State: Surging Eric Filia Leads Bruins Past Bulldogs Eric Filia has an impressive pedigree. It dates back to his freshman year at Huntington Beach’s Edison High, when he hit .500 to tie (5-time All Star) Jeff Kent’s school record. By the time he graduated, he ranked seventh in California high school history in hits. He hit .383 last summer in the prestigious Northwoods League to rank as the circuit’s No. 10 prospect. So it was reasonable for UCLA to expect Filia to make a jump to stardom and anchor its lineup as a sophomore this spring. ... In nine postseason games, Filia leads UCLA with a .424 average...he has become one of the focal points of UCLA’s lineup, repeatedly showing a knack for coming up with big hits when the Bruins need them most. Filia led UCLA’s offense again in the first game of the CWS Finals on Monday, leading the Bruins to a 3-1 win against Mississippi State. He doubled in the first inning to help the Bruins get on the board first, then added a two-run single in the fourth to cap UCLA’s scoring. “He’s a very talented player who didn’t have a very good year,” UCLA coach John Savage said. “For whatever reason the numbers aren’t there, but he’s a pretty darn good hitter, and we feel confident when he’s up there in that situation. Because he likes the big moment, I have noticed that. In a tight game, you’re playing for your life, he’s the guy you want up there. “It’s kind of the story of our team a little bit. We have good players, it’s just when you look at the stat sheet, you’re shaking your head a little bit. I think the whole country’s seeing that now.” Filia has a sweet lefthanded swing, and when he’s locked in, he is capable of hitting hard line drives to all fields. When he doesn’t spray the ball around, Savage said, he struggles, but he used the whole field Monday. In his first at-bat, Filia went the other way with a Trevor Fitts fastball up and away for a double down the left-field line. That put runners on second and third, setting the stage for Pat Valaika’s RBI single to center. UCLA never looked back. In the fourth, the Bruins got a one-out single from Brenton Allen, then took advantage of catcher Nick Ammirati’s throwing error on Brian Carroll’s bunt. Filia came up with runners at second and third and two outs, and this time he pulled a two-run single to right field, giving UCLA a commanding 3-0 lead.
And I don't give a shit that they don't give a shit. Coming into the championship series, they were batting .183 as a team at the CWS. Congrats to UCLA for being the best 'gnat ball' team in America. FIX THE GAME NCAA!!
Isn't that something? Batting .183 in the CWS and about to become one of the rare teams in history to go undefeated in CWS play. Shows you how random baseball is and how important getting the right hits at the right time is in baseball But yeah, their batting avg and run production would go up it they wouldn't play so conservative, but i'll get to the stats on that later But yeah, i agree that the balls and bats we use give an advantage to pitching and defense, which is the hallmark of UCLA's program. They would be the equivalent to LSU in football over the last few years. Like LSU football has championship D and special teams but a "small ball" offense that doesn't produce much other than clutch plays, same thing with UCLA.
UCLA wins game 1 and 2 vs Miss St 3-1 and 8-0 to become NATIONAL CHAMPIONS We won game 1 and 2 vs Miss State 6-4 and 7-3 in an epic Top Ten clash to put us in the drivers seat in the SEC West
UCLA - 109 national championships in team sports MS St - 0 Was really hoping State would win, not only for the SEC but because they've never won one in anything. Even Vandy has 1 national championship (in women's bowling or something like that from 40 years ago).
And all that matters to them is taking the trophy home and celebrating a NC... How would you fix the game, no bunts allowed?
Yeah, but think of those damn cowbells. Anytime I ever start to feel sorry for State, I remember those god-awful things and quickly go back to hating them. Have some self-respect and cheer with your voice like a real fan. Same thing goes for Arky and that stupid pig-calling crap. What an embarrassment.
