I just heard a clip from an interview he gave today and he said "LSU hasnt been in contact for 2 months". I know he seems like a lock for the gumps but why would we drop recruiting a guy when we were clearly on his list? Especially this guy.
He is not a lock so that is pretty discouraging. He said he has heard from some other coaches but not Les.
Miles probably learned his lesson with McKnight. He knew he was a USC lock but was being led on so he's not letting it happen this year.
I agree, it's one thing though to keep recruiting a Louisiana kid when you think he may be headed elsewhere and completely different when it's a Bama or Florida kid...plus, can you imagine the backlash if Les woulda stopped going for McKnight?
FWIW, his high school coach is still saying it is a 3 team race with LSU still in the mix. If you don't get Julio I wouldn't think it's that big of a deal. Now, if you lose Edwards and Tolliver I'd be suspicious if I were you.
I can see Tolliver going out of LA to play with the depth we currently have and especially with Benton and DeAndre Brown and others high on our list. I say playing time will be his deciding factor and LSU would not be the place for him if the other recruits pan out.
IF there is a 3rd team, it may be Oklahoma. Apparently Julio has made a trip to Oklahoma recently. That being said, I'd be very surprised if he winds up some where other than Alabama. But anything can happen.
LSU has been more of a player than FSU for a month or so, with Oklahoma. It is nothing like McKnight because while he very well could go to Bama he is not anywhere near a lock.
I do not know why Julio said that because based on my source he was contacted last week by our coaching staff. I still think he is Bama bound but it makes me wonder why he would put out smoke and mirrors.
