Parso said this applies here too. We didn't want to show too much. Keepin it vanilla till we play the big boys.
I recall hearing this many times last year, and we waited and waited to see something new and different on offense. I also recall that seeing something new and different on offense didn't happen... Bottom line from last night on offense were stupid mistakes -- turnovers and penalties. We had a nice drive going to start the second half, Ridley fumbles inside the 15. Later, we had a TD nullified due to a holding call. Just those two plays gives at least 10 more points, if not 14, assuming a TD at the start of the second half. That puts a totally different spin on things and UNC never comes as close as they did.
while for a different reason than people gave last year, i kinda think it was "on purpose". we thought we had the game in the bag when up 20 and put it on cruise control. if we come out and attack, we probably put more points on the board, and take the wind out of their sails and win convincingly.
If so, Miles has got to stop doing that. I'm not sayin' go all Urban Meyer/Bob Stoops on teams (altough I'm not really all that opposed to it), but there is nothing wrong with 50 points. THEN put the freshmen in and let them have some fun. See what I did there?
I don't buy it. Miles knows his seat is warm, that is too much of a risk. Then again, Miles is that stupid.
let me re-phrase. i don't think our intention was to let them back into the game, but that is exactly what did happen when we let off the gas.
