We are losing our nation to lies about the necessity of war

This is where I disagree. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The US invaded Afghanistan. Who did the Afghanis invade? Nobody.

The hate the "West" because we are over there. They don't hate the Japanese, or the Canadians do they? They want the West out of their country and I don't blame them.

They also want the Israelis out of Palestine and that is where the US foreign policy stance causes us trouble. It's also why the Israelis are the pricipal beneficiary of the 9/11 attacks which is what makes me suspicious.

What's the old Roman saying, cui bono?

Regardless, it's not to the US's benefit and it's certainly not to my benefit.

Bring the troops home, let Europe and Japan pay for their own defense and guard our borders.

I don't see the downside to that. We stood down the Soviet Union for God's sake....why so nervous about a bunch of thugs in the mountains?

 

I try to come up with a reasonable response but it's not possible because you are so hopelessly ignorant about why we are conducting a war on terror and why we must continue the fight.

It's not as simple as building a fence around the US and letting others solve their own problems, despite what educated punks like Ron Paul think.

And as far as guarding the border goes....if the government is incapable of doing its constitutional duty and securing the border then how in the hell do you expect it to be able to democratize whole swaths of the globe which are not culturally inclined to be democratic?

I mean, really....how will this work? If the US military would ever declare mission accomplish and leave afghanistan Mr. Kharzai would be hanging from the nearest tree within 48 hrs and everybody knows it.
