Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again We didn't play Wazzou, we play UW. Besides, we were playing a revamped team that we really didnt have any tape on so you had to play like that. What frustrated me was the tackling or lack there of
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again A thread like this just doesn't even deserve a post... even one that says it doesn't deserve a post...
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again There were two that stayed. Mallory and Peveto. Look, Pelini's scheme was on its way out anyway. LSU's defense broke down in the championship year of '07, but we had the hosses, many of which play on Sundays now, to make up for it. Anyone remember Ole Miss? Arkansas? Bama? In fact, many of us looked back at the second half of the South Carolina game and saw that Spurrier somehow found a chink in the defense. Pelini was successful, but he left on a good note and at a good time. His scheme stayed with Mallory and Peveto in '08 and whatever success LSU once had with it died off. This year, it looks a lot like last year.... so far. I'm hoping things can get turned around quick!
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again Plus, "raped" is a strong word. I doubt if CBS or ESPN will allow any replays should that happen.
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again People can say whatever they want... what's obvious after last nights game is: 1. The defense needs to tackle. 2. Throwing the ball 19 times isn't going to win games, when every run is up the gut. We need the run to open up the passing game and vice versa. 3. O line needs to give JJ time. 4. D Line needs to get pressure on opposing QBs. 5. Miles needs to quit talking crazy, like when he said... "We sputtered in the first half at times on offense," LSU coach Les Miles said. "There were opportunities to take advantage of our opponent, and we didn't attack them the way we should have." and... "That Jake Locker is mobile and active," Miles said. "I'm very thankful that we came and performed like we did." or this... "I think our new defensive coaches did a good job. The team was in position to make tackles and do things," Miles said. "We missed some tackles early on. At times I saw that Tiger defense that I want it to be." I wonder if he was watching the same game we were.
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again with consideration that miles talks in coach-speak a lot, i don't have a problem with those three statements. he's not gonna throw chavis under the bus to the press after one game. we did have players that missed tackles (cough) chad jones (cough) but overall the scheme and execution on D needs to be better. at times in the 2nd half the tiger D did play well but it was too few and far btwn. edit: also think of how many times miles didn't throw the two headed monstrosity of a DC under the bus last year but fired them at the end of the year. miles isn't gonna give the fans full disclosure of his feelings.
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again To say we sputtered at times on offense in the first half is putting it very very mildly. We sputtered the whole game. Our Offense, with all of it's weapons managed only 24 points and 321 yards. While our Defense gave up 478 yards. With the weapons we have on both sides of the ball this shouldn't be the case. Our Offense shou;d've been able to put up 500 yards, while our Defense should've never given up 200.
Re: We are going to get raped in the SEC again Ok, you've had your little rant, now what was crazy about what Les said?
