An update on women's recruits from the class of 2006:

5'11" Alison Hightower, Arlington TX: highly sought after by ALL the Texas schools.

6'0" Christy Mitchell, Savannah Georgia: several SEC schools are after her.

6'1" Amanda Thompson, Chicago Illinois: Big 10 schools, esp. national runner-up Michigan State and Illinois.

6'3" Abi Olajuwon, Los Angelas...yep Daddy is THE DREAM

All four of these players were among the top 36 from the Class of 2006 who competed in the Youth Devo fest this past month in Colorado Springs.

Nothing yet but over the last few weeks, top recruits have been making commits:

    Dymond Simon to Arizona State
    JJ Hones to Stanford
Joy Cheek and Bridgette Mitchell to Duke.

The names above are all players who participated in the DEVO festival (just like the players interested in LSU from my previous post). Once a few of the top players start moving, it sometimes triggers a domino movement and they all start moving.

Let's hope we are still a "hot item" 5 years from now. By then, Pokey may be coaching the mens' team.

An article from theadvocate which highlights some of LSU's recruiting targets (albeit, from a third party perspective). Pokey admits that this will be a large recruiting class and key positions to be filled include C, PF, and getting the best overall player available.

Shanavia Dowdell verballed to La Tech.

LSu also is not in Dee Dee Jernigan's final 4 schools to visit.

Hightower is on Baylor's campus this weekend (weather permitting) and will take visits to Texas Tech, LSU, and Oklahama.
