How does not reupping work? I have never had to reup. They keep sending a bill unless you call and cancel. Did you just cancel cable and keep internet on do you have a separate internet provider?

Watched some of the CWS on sling this year. Not too shabby. There was a free-bee firestick deal as well. Not sure how the ATT deal will change it.

My concern with Sling is bandwidth... Will they be able to handle football season traffic? I did the trial for Sling but since I use a media center PC, it wasn't practical. The PC app does not have a usable 10-foot interface.

Also, a nonfootball issue with Sling is that they do not have a contract with Discovery Networks, so no Discovery, Animal Planet, Science, etc.

Discovery used to be good but look at their lineup now. One reality show after another. You said you are using Linux on your personal computer. Will Sling work with linux? Also can't you hook your TV directly up to Sling?

Think some newer smart TVs can but most get around with the firestick. If I remember correctly, it's Web based so you might get by with firefox on Linux. It's more or less contract free so I will prob try it closer to Sept.

Edit: Looks like freebie is now Roku.

My only comment is why would you mess with your cable right before football season?

Stopped having cable long time ago. Saves quite a bit of money.

Its just a waste really. No one uses it. The wife watches shows on netflix . The kids play with toys and read. I have work, school, piss off people on this forum and ride my dirt-bike when I have time.
