I was not that impressed with tOSU football team. They were on field turf so that is as fast as they will be and they looked very slow. The d-line was not that impressive I think i saw them them make 2 tackles in the first half. The linebackers make alot of tackles because they have no choice because the d-line is not making any. They also used their d-backs to stop the run. The speed of their defense is in their corners but only one of them showed great speed. They move the linebackers around alot and leave the middle of the field open. C.Wells did not impress me one bit the guy went down at first contact several times, sure he's great in the open but who ain't. Their starting reciever got caught from behind by a badly beaten safety, there is no way any of our recievers would have gotten caught from behind like that. He is also their return guy. Their QB is pretty good in the pocket unpressered but make him move or put pressure on him and he makes very bad throws. I like our chances a lot better now that I have seen them play. Jacob Hester, Matt Flynn, Dickson and the wide recievers should have huge games. I think Holiday will have some big runs as well. Maybe I am seeing all this threw purple and gold glasses but I am usually spot on when judging another teams talent. I called last years blow out by Florida when everyone was telling me I was crazy. I would say the only way OSU stays in the game is by our turnovers and every player plays the game of their life, kind of the way Florida played us this year. Oh one more thing I also saw the vest get out coached by an SEC reject lol
I watched this game myself, Illinois made them respect the run so much that Juice, through a couple of touchdowns over the top, because of their safeties cheating up to stop him and the running back. I am not impressed with their offense at all. BUT, OH St. has a pretty solid defense.
We need to schedule weak OOC games and play in a weak conference then we could play for the NC every year oh wait that's USC and OSUs MO.
This game showed how the spread offense beats OSU. Same thing Florida did last year. We showed, at times, that we can spread it out. But all too often we went back to power football with running Hester up the middle. The other issue is Flynn's health. The spread option would be a great weapon to have, but I really doubt he'll be healthy enough to run it. If we open it up on offense and use all our weapons, we win going away.
Exactly. To get a fair assessment of aOSU, you'd need to look at their best game as well as their worst game. Go watch the Penn State game and see if you feel the exact same way. You'd need to strike an opinion somewhere in between the two. Every team has strengths as well as vulnerabilities. The losses emphasize the latter, but the big wins accentuate the former. I know that our team couldn't be fairly judged by only watching the McFadden game. Conversely, you could also see what we're capable of by looking at the VT game.
The Tigers have to open this offense up in this game. And don't think they don't know it. They watch a hell of a lot more film than we do. I've said it once I'll say it again. If the Tigers get up on OSU in a hurry, they're in deep trouble. It may look like a clone of last years NCG. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
You have to be kidding. USC doesn't schedule weak teams. Whether the teams we schedule happen to have an off year or not is a different matter. In most cases, putting Nebraska and ND into your play list is considered good scheduling. Neither team put it together this year. However I believe Auburn, Arkansas, Ohio State, Virginia, Nebraska, and Notre Dame would be considered strong OOC opponents especially considering they all included a home and away except Virginia which will be in their house. USC and aOSU have been at or near the top of CFB for the last several years. While LSU has a right to claim their own top spot, doesn't mean the rest are crap.
The Buckeyes are slow. They shouldn't even be in this game. Ohio State is a middle of the road team in the SEC at best.... It's a good thing because this LSU team seems to get beat by that kind of a mediocre team.
