I live in Orlando and want to warn LSU fans to watch out for parking scams around the Citrus Bowl. They have been going on for years with the knowledge of the police and city officials. Most occur in parking lots for closed businesses or on city grounds that are No Parking areas. What happens is you will see someone standing in a lot and waving that you can park there. You want to look very carefully around the entrances to the lot to make sure there are no signs stating the lot is a tow away zone. The signs are rectangular in shape and about 1.5' by 2'. Once you park there and go into the stadium then the tow trucks show up and tow all the cars in the lot. It will cost you over $100 to get your car back. I went one year when Georgia played Purdue and personally gave 11 families rides to get their cars. The sad thing was the police stood right there and let it happen, so don't think they will protect you. The best thing to do is get a parking pass with your tickets. Support our troops!:usaflagwa
In New Orleans, it's the meter maids kids that do that with the blessing of the city. I once saw a female cop chasing a young robber who was about a half a block down the street on foot and he was putting distance between him and her. I stopped, opened my car door and told the cop "hop in". She did and I sped up and the dude turned the corner...so did I...up a one way street. I stopped when we saw him dive under a truck. She got out just as backup arrived. I had pulled over in a no parking zone in front of a hotel. While I was giving a statement to the police... ...You guessed it. A meter b!tch wrote me a ticket. The cops tried to wave her off...but she said "Talk to the hand." They are not part of the police department...the Police could do nothing. The meter maids, the towing companies and the city are responsible for these scams. What a shame !!!
Don't forget to add that they also make money by charging you to park in those tow away spots as well.
