The team we played last night was not the Washington of the past few years. They have a Qb that if he continues to play at that level needs to get some Heisman hype. And they have speed!!! I got a feeling that midway through this season we will look back at this game and look at the body of work of Washington and realize that this was a hard fought game against a worthy opp!!!!!!!
I don't know about the best of the PAC10... but I do know... had they not lost Locker and their RB, along with a few other injuries last season... and their not winless. If UW puts forth this effort every week, they'll be a contender for the PAC10... but they have a ways to go to beat a few teams in there.
They're a quality opponent who shocked the hell out of us. They've got talent and I think the UW fans are going to be very pleased this season. We shoulda hung 40 on them.. but color me impressed with Locker. I'd trade the world to have their defensive coordinator.
They are a much improved team. Who played their best last night. I still dont see them being more than a .500 team. I know the Pac 10 is more offensive than defensive minded but they will get beat through the air. USC will beat them handily. I also think Cal wont have too much trouble either.
UDub is definately a quality team. They will win their share of games this year and probably end up in a descent bowl game. We will improve as the season goes along. Starting the season with a hard-fought win on the road could be a good thing. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Guys, I'm all about giving the opponent credit where it's due. However, it was LSUs lack of tackling and 3rd down scheming on defense that kept this game close. Locker did impress me, as well as Polk. But let's face it...there was several times we had two hands on them both in the backfield, and they EASILY broke the tackles without special effort. - We tout the SEC and the big bad bully...physical and fast. We did not represent the version of SEC that exists in our minds. We always crow about the Pac 10 and Big 12 not ever having to face defenses such as the mighty SEC defenses...oh well.
If the LSU coaches actually utilized all of this team's weapons we could have destroyed the Huskies. That said, Miles is a conservative coach and is a bit paranoid when it comes to showing his hand before the meat of the SEC schedule. Washington is definitely better than anyone expected, including their own fans. They won't win the PAC 10 but they will make some noise and I'm willing to bet they end up in the top 3rd of the PAC 10 when the season is done. Game like this and Ole Miss with Snead show just how important a quarterback is to a team. Everything goes through the QB.
I can agree with it, however, I still feel LSU could have put up huge numbers on this team given that we did it in the air. Watching our D, I felt like, we where just a few steps behind of making BIG plays. I want to think it was the time + distance+ not respecting UW. We shall see after the vandy game where LSU is...
