Hey Tigers, UW (Washington) season ticket holder who's thinking about making the trip down to Baton Rouge for our 2012 match-up. (Couldn't be happier about you guys thumping the ducks earlier this year!) My question isn't really game related, but rather experience related. I'd like to plan this trip far in advance, and want to know where to stay, what to do, where to tailgate, what to expect from fans (I didn't go to our matchup in Seattle but was told your fans were exceptional), ect. Probably going to be a couple of my friends coming down with me, so help me enjoy LSU football to the greatest degree! Travis
Im going to my first game later this year. I'll give you a full report, assuming I remember anything...
There are several hotels within a few minutes drive of campus. Just depends on the experience you want and how long you plan to stay. Baton Rouge has two riverboat casinos with hotels if you are into that. New Orleans is only an hour south.
hotels in the area are booked by june. book early. for tailgating, wear your colors, and take being tiger baited with good humor. you will be fed well. revisit this thread a couple of weeks before the game, and you will likely be given directions on how to get to some of our tailgates, with the invite to stop by for a bite to eat and talk footall.
That all sounds pretty great. What kind of food is typical for these tailgates? I'm certainly interested in trying some southern fair.
If you've never enjoyed Louisiana cuisine before, you're in for a real treat. You'll get a little bit of everything, from barbecue to jambalaya, etoufee, boudin, everything in between.
We like to eat the mascot of whomever we're playing, but I don't really see anyone serving "Blackened Husky". Jambalaya, Gumbo, Pastalaya, Boudin, etc...visiting LA, you should try LA food while you're there. One other thing that you may not be aware of... Marijuana is actually illegal in LA, and most other states for that matter. Just thought you might wanna know. The Oregon fans made certain we knew that it was no big deal that their players "smoked it all"...
