Why on Earth does that make sense? 2007 first, the last time that Locker played the Trojans: I can't recall a USC game with that many "things" and yet still winning. 3 TO's 16 penalites for 161 yards, missed FG, blocked punt, 2 starting Olinemen down on the same play. Not to mention that at least 3 or 4 of those penalities came at times that either killed a USC drive or advanced a dying Husky drive. Not a good year to compare at all. Still can't go there with you. That was an erratic team at best. A couple blowouts but also several very close games and the ultimate 13-9 loss to ucla at the Rose Bowl. This year's team, while still an unknown, is deeper in talent and speed. That counts for something. I agree on the dramatics. Still, Jethro Franklin has energized the Dline significantly and it is much improved over 2006 and 2007. The secondary is much better as well. The playbook isn't going to change the players or their abilities on either side. Maybe the other way around. tirk is right. UDub had a great game but was never going to beat better talent and that's what LSU has. I suspect USC will be able to compete in much the same way.
Only on Tiger forums is there an SEC board where we have the UW fans squaring off with the USC fans and in it's own special thread. I like it.
because its an optimistic time for them and its been a long, long while. no need to over-analyze what he said. just like our fans reason-out this jet lag thing and your fans rationalize reggie bush's recruitment.
This is a FIRST, and I love it! Maverickuw, I told you about uscvball, and here she is! We just need an appearance from HectorSpector and all will be complete! This is even better than the Bama and Auburn crowds having a fight on our board! I understand that vball and muw are not having a fight, they are just civilly discussing the upcoming contest, along with us Tiger fans who have an interest in it. It may be a measuring stick, and it may not. No two Saturdays are the same, and if a beats b, and b beats c, it does not mean that if a and c play that a will beat c. There are plenty of counter examples. But, that doesn't stop everyone from comparing. But, we love us some college football!
tirk is all caught up in the big win by USC and the ho hum win by LSU. USC looked unbeatable in the middle 2 quarters but that was because they played a team with little comparable talent and no speed. Total outclass. No conclusions about how they would fare against real competition can be drawn. LSU played an uninspired game against what appeared to be decent talent (exceptional talent at QB) with some speed. Although the outcome was never in doubt, it was not the blowout some expected. I firmly believe that LSU played conservatively on offense. The defense is still getting used to it's 3rd DC in 3 years. It takes time to gel under game conditions. The talent is there and they will get better. Anyone who tries to predict what will happen this week or 2 weeks down the road based upon what transpired this past weekend is blindly speculating at best and wildly guessing at worst.
