Of course...thank God for the successors Archer and Hallman coming in and cleaning that mess up that he created in the mid 80s. Poor college coach???
I think this is ridicules. It was a good well timed hit to break up a pass. I would be so pissed if this happened to us. It's football dammit.
I agree, it was also an illegal hit by the rules and should have been flagged (SEC officials at it again). That being said... I don't think the kid should have been ejected or suspended. I've seen worse in recent years by LSU safeties (Landry and Steltz). I also believe Les said on his show that the kid apologized to TT.
Yep. He had a run with Stoval's recruits, but he didn't recruit very well himself and he knew it. Three years as a college coach and he wanted out. He became the Florida AD, but first saddled us with a loser in Mike Archer, then he went back to the NFL. He was a great NFL coach. He was a poor college coach. Smart enough, he knew enough to get out while he was ahead.
I remember a Steltz hit that was helmet to helmet that never got flagged. Should've been, but wasn't. Doesn't make it right, though.
To be fair, I was in my teens at that time, and you were probably about 40.:hihi: So I don't remember all the little details. But... I know in his last year, we were SEC champs for the first time in a decade and a half. (Sounds like he was building something rather than living off Stovall's boys) He screwed us with Archer, who I think everyone would agree was the beginning of the end of LSU football for a while. BUT as terrible as he was, even Archer did VERY well in his first year on the job...10-1-1. (Seems to me HE was living off Arnsparger's recruits) Might as well say Saban was a poor college coach living off Dinardo's recruits. But what do I know.
