Was Hitt a replacement for Snyder?

Someone on another forum said the only reason Hitt started was Snyder got hurt. He expects Snyder to regain the starting job next season. Does anyone remember if someone was slated to start and didn't because of injury on the OL? I faintly remember this happening myself. If this is true do you think Hitt will retain the job?

Here's an extract from the media guide published before the season started

    RG 73 Will Arnold 6-4 325 Sr.
    -or- 65 Lyle Hitt 6-2 284 So.
    55 Andrew Decker 6-3 284 So.

    RT 73 Will Arnold 6-4 325 Sr.
    -or- 71 Carnell Stewart 6-4 294 Sr.
    67 Mark Snyder 6-7 284 Fr.-RS

When Arnold was unable to play Hitt moved up to start at RF and Stewart at RT.

I guess I was thinking of the perpetually hurt Arnold. It looks like both Hitt and Stewart gained about 20 pounds from that early report. I can recall thinking when we signed Hitt that he seemed a bit short and undersized at the time. I think he is about maxed out on his size now.

snyder got completely owned in the spring game. i don't think he'll be starting for a while.
