Tigers fans, My first post on here and I wanted to let you all know about a traffic issue here. If your coming to Orlando for the Bowl, be aware of the fact that the Turnpike about 25 miles NW of Orlando is narrowed to a single lane on each side due to an 18-wheeler catching on fire underneath the turnpike and burning the northbound side. They're using the southbound side for one lane going north and one going south. It will be that way for three weeks, sooooo I imagine during the holiday week it will be pretty much a mess. Florida Turnpike repairs: 16 days,$1.5 million and some holiday delays -- OrlandoSentinel.com Here's the Orlando Sentinel story. I live near the accident site in the town of Clermont. I would say gauge your time. If you pull off at Leesburg exit and drive down US 27 to Highway 50. There's a good little BBQ place in Minneola called Jack's. (Beware the inside is done up in all Gators memorabilia). There is also a brewery in Minneola called the Lagniappe brewery and the brewmaster is from Louisiana and is a BIG LSU fan. ... and damn good beer. His name is Brad Banker and he's open for "tasting" from around 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. And while you guys are coming down, my GF and I will be headed your way to stay in this little town called New Orleans. Will be there from Dec. 26 through the 30th. Were staying at Hotel Le Cirque on Lee Circle. I guess there's a good little hole in the wall called The Circle Bar. Anyone know?
i'll second the recommendation for jack's BBQ ..... I have their sauce sent to me on a regular basis and they have some great food.
The circle bar is next door to the Le Cirque hotel. They have some nice live music and it's the first floor of an old (more than 100 yrs old) house. the upstairs is a series of rooms/apartments for rent...kind of a flophouse. My brother-in-law used to live in one of the rooms before he married my sister. He's currently running for mayor of New Orleans as a fringe candidate. He's an actor/comedian with a day job as a bookstore clerk at Tulane university. So if any of you New Orleans tigers want to waste a vote...vote for "A troubled man for troubled times" Manny Chevrolet...good, fast, cheap !!. By the way, you're walking distance from the French Quarter and right on the streetcar line. PM me and I'll give you a lot of recommendations.
Mykel, here is a link to the thread about what to do in NO from last year's Sugar Bowl (in which Utah body slammed Alabama :lol http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-d...u-fans.html?highlight=utah+sugar+bowl+alabama
