Anyone catch the dig from Danielson during the game when he was talking about these two? Basically, he said Ware wasn't in the same class as Richardson. I have to disagree. I think Richardson is a beast and will be tough to defend on Nov. 5, but I think Ware is just as physical, just as hard to bring down, has a great motor and finishes runs. Their stats are different simply because LSU rotates more backs in, is more balanced by mixing in the pass, and the Gumps have played much inferior competition compared to the Tigers up to this point. I remember LSU was close to getting Richardson and wish we had. Could you imagine our backfield? Anyways, my point is Danielson is a tool and both are these backs are equally awesome.
When I re-watch the game, I plan to count how many times Danielson refers to Nick, Bama, Richardson, etc. I'm thinking at least 50 times? I was wondering for a while if he knew he wasn't actually covering a Bama game.
I think Richardson is playing better than Ware right now. He's probably a more dominant running back. But Bama is not as deep at running back and if they lose Richardson, it will be a big drop-off.
Richardson is the better back. Anyone that's not a homer would agree with this. I love our RB's and have nothing but good things to say about them. If it was a choice between Bama's RB group or ours, I'm taking ours every time. We simply have more depth with not a big drop off. But that doesn't change the fact that Richardson is the best RB in the SEC and maybe the country.
As others on this forum have stated, and I agree 100%, I'm so tired of Lundquist, Danielson, and CBS. The best response is for LSU to win. :geauxtige
And yes Richardson is the better back. There's a reason why he has 600+ rushing yards and Ware only has 300+ yards on only 15 more carries. He is faster and stronger (check out his workout numbers) but I remember Danielson saying it like "And obviously Ware isn't in Richardson's class", I don't think it's that obvious with the two having similar playing styles.
If Ware was the only RB we used and if we had long fields to cover every game he would probably have 600+ yards. But CLM spreads it around and in *most* of our games our offense has had a relatively short field to work with.
I think given the systems each back are in, Richardson is the better back because he's featured more. If you were to compare them straight up, maybe a slight edge to Richardson because of overall strength. I think, as others have said, that the CBS crew just loves to drool over anything Bama, whether they are covering them that day or not.
He has only 15 more carries than Ware yet he has 300 extra yards. It's simple, he can break the long run while Ware is limited to more of a bruiser back. But it's okay, that's why we have Ford. Richardson is an elite back, nothing to be ashamed of.
