Do you really need "backup" to go to a game? It's Athens, not Baghdad. You're being a bit too dramatic. If I can get away from a previous obligation i'll be going to the game with seven Georgia fans and sitting in their section and the thought of "backup" never once entered my head.
I've sat in the home crowd at Georgia and never had a problem. You should probably just bring someone because going to the game alone is boring.
That didn't exactly come out right. After an afternoon project to finally get picture in picture working in my theater room for all the Saturday night games this past weekend (the joys of DirecTV), I decided to dive off into the Crown Royal. The rest goes without saying. I was...well...rather intoxicated when I first posted this. "Backup" was used because my brother (an Auburn guy...blah) and several of his friends got treated TERRIBLY a couple years ago and ended up in a fight. This past season, I bought a ticket off Ebay and ended up sitting in the UGA section in Tiger Stadium in the upper deck....I got heckled in my own stadium the entire game and witnessed five or six UGA fans escorted out of the stadium by the cops for fighting in our stadium. My brother has been to almost every SEC stadium and said UGA in general and Sanford Stadium is by far the worse he has ever been to. And yes...I don't want to sit by myself...it kinda sucks! "Backup" was a bit melodramatic, but considering my state at the time I typed it...I'm glad it was a coherent sentence!
That's a very good question. I was shocked when I tried to register and it said I already had an account here. I guess I had planned to ask you guys something during the '03 season!
Went there in 04, great time and great fans. The only bad thing is having to look at those damn red pants. However, the ladies there certainly make up for the red pants.
I went to Athens while Edwards was still in office, around 85 or 86. A friend of mine was his chief of security and offered to get me tickets. He told me how the governors offices in the different states get tickets for each other. I was pretty pumped because he told me that they were around midfield and fairly low. He gets me the tickets and my date and I went. When we sat down it dawned on me that tickets from GA's governor's office would naturally be in the GA section! I had never given it a thought. I was sitting in a sea of red! Anyway, I was pretty tipsy and vocal, but in a good natured way. I, and the fans around me, had a great time. No trouble what so ever.
