Walk-on's --Anyone know of any that have become starters?

Saw this article today about a prefered walk-on coming to LSU. My curiousity peaked, as some of these guy's, must become starters.
Or is it like the movie Rudy....they are just lucky if they ever dress?

 

The leading scorer in LSU history was a walk on.

 

LSU's first team was comprised of nothing but walk-ons..,

 

Kevin Steltz, Craig's older brother, was a walk-on & started at FB.

 

Technically, Josh Booty was a walk-on.

And until recently most kickers and punters at least started out as walk-ons

My son made the travel team as a RS Frosh walk-on at TCU,(usually a max of 60-70 players) played in the 3rd game that season, and every game the next 4 years to include 4 bowls, was a starter his senior year until injury and lettered 4 times.Didn't get a ship until he lettered the 3rd time. At some schools walk-ons play a huge part of the team. NCAA rules still only allow 105 players to go to fall camp (85+20) then the rest of the walk-ons come out after school starts. FWIW:geaux:
