Doesn't read as past tense to me except maybe the first paragraph but he was talking about what he has been doing since he arrived.
I agree with YOU. YOU are correct, but do not expect shane to understand past or present perfect tense. Also, pls don’t hold it against him. The worst 3 yrs of his life was 1st grade.
