one of the primary problems with modern society is how much weight people give the chatter from clowns. social media amplifies snark and rewards it. the wise man ignores it and judges situations on the facts. talk radio and social media dont matter.

he was. and the NCAA admins were the dumbest.

My "like" of this comment is for the first part. As to the second, if WW were the smartest guy in the room, I think he'd have found a way to do what everyone else is doing without getting caught.

An FBI wiretap has brought down the most secretive and cautious of criminals. WW isn't amongst those guys. All these dudes were just going back and forth over the phone. Adidas reps and coaches.

If you are gonna do wrong, do wrong right.

given that the NCAA is not the FBI, and there was no reason for wade to believe anyone had the authority to listen to his private calls, i dont think he made much of an error.

hard to anticipate that the feds are gonna listen in and make your calls public. same applies to his bank account.

i am not a 4th amendment scholar but it seems to me he had his rights violated. his identity should have been kept private and his calls not released.

also with regard to paying the girl who was blackmailing him, why is that a problem? NCAA has no authority to stop wade from paying people that are not athletes. the criminal in that case is the girl, which is why he saved her texts.

the problem here is multi-faceted, clowns at the NCAA, as well as in the FBI.

i think the issue that the southern district of NY is the most prestigious law job you can get out of school, and those fellas want to make a name for themselves, and overreach. the whole case was a waste of time and taxpayer money.

wade did nothing wrong. he shouldnt have been fired. he should have been extended.

true, and i wonder if its fucking worth it to use that sort of skullduggery to mess with people paying athletes. who is the victim again?

every big time team was paying players. the victims dont exist. players that were not good enough to get paid are not victims, they just arent good. like i never got paid even though i have played soccer my whole life. neither are the programs that cant afford to pay. wade appeared to be paying the players from his own money, which he can afford to do, because he is highly paid, because the NCAA was paid billions and billions for TV rights. the people doing the labor that creates that programming was the players. they earned that money and its a travesty they couldnt get it.

I am not fully educated on what was going on with adidas and coaches. From my perspective, it is an NCAA rules thing, not an interstate law violation. Certainly not wire fraud (like the FBI loves to charge people with since the RICO Act).
I never knew until then that the NCAA solicits the FBI to solve their perceived rule violations.

The FBI was involved due to interstate crimes being committed.
The specific federal crimes were “bribery conspiracy, solicitation of bribes, honest services fraud conspiracy, honest service fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and Travel Act conspiracy,”

Will Wade is so smart that he used his own cell phone to send texts, used a joint bank account he shared with his wife to pay players and then was dumb enough to get caught on a FBI wire tap admitting to offering Javonte Smart money and other things to get him to sign with LSU. If that's what you consider smart, then you and WW are definitely twins!
