Just to clarify, though - I'm just saying Saturday will be the most dangerous game of the season to have inconsistent punting. I'm definitely hopeful that Jasper (I think Alleman is probably done) can get the job done.
Absolutely. It hasn't cost us a game. Field position will be a critcal factor in Saturday's game and who ever wins the punting battle will have a leg up in my opinion.
BAMA's punting is worse than LSU's, so it will either be a wash or it will be favor us. Both teams have excelent returners, but our punt coverage is better than theirs.
With this I agree. As I have stated in this thread more than once, our special teams as a whole is top notch this year. With these two defenses, though...punting is likely to play a role. I like our coverage team, I just hope they aren't tackling Arenas in our territory...after a 3 yd return. See what I mean?
Shepard has been practicing punting this week and he is going to run a special formation called the WildPunter this weekend.
Punting and special teams is not an area I am overly worried about in this game. Although I agree that field position will play a big factor in who comes out on top.:geaux: :LSU231:
How so, not being overly worried about our kicking game and acknowledging that it will play a factor in who wins isn't contradictory. There are much larger concerns than our kicking game that I am worried about.
