I thought you might be interested in this story: LSU football radio analyst Doug Moreau may step aside after this season, http://theadvocate.com/sports/12606738-32/lsu-football-radio-analyst-doug Sent via the The Baton Rouge Advocate Android App. Download the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...providers.capitalcitypress.batonrougeadvocate
IMO, it needs to be someone that has a voice unique enough that a 12 year old kid on some LA. road searching the "radio" on Sat night knows exactly when he has found the LSU football game! It worked for me so many times over many years!
Sounds like he would like to stay but he hasn't been asked. So he is offering to resign if LSU wants to have a clean slate. Alluva should have his yankee ass kicked if he runs off Moreau before he's ready to retire.
Last year Moreau missed several games with some kind of health issue but returned later in the season. I don't know what issues he had and I hope he is fully recovered. I don't think Alleva in necessarily forcing him out but the new guy whoever he turns out to be will want to feel comfortable with his sidekick analyst. Now, I have met Doug Moreau (not in his capacity as district attorney) and he is a very down to earth easy to talk to person so I can't imagine anybody not being comfortable working with him. If the new Voice of the Tigers is one of the names that have been mentioned I'm sure that person is already aquainted with Moreau. Now if they are going to hire a new analyst I have some names of people I would love to see but those people already have great jobs. The VOTT is a full time very well paying job. I don't know how much the football analyst job pays but it is basically a part time job and wouldn't pay enough for somebody to earn a full time living at it. Moreau earned his real living as an attorney and DA. Walter Hill was the Channel 2 weatherman. My pick would be Marcus Spears but he already has a great job with the SEC Network and even if he wanted to be the analyst he will be busy otherwise on Saturdays. The will want to hire somebody who is not too old. They want to make a "generational hire" for the VOTT position so that person can be there for the next 25 or 30 years. Hannigrif is 43. Patrick Wright is about that age. Not sure about the other candidates ages. Jacob Hester is a young guy and I've heard him being interviewed recently and he would be very good. But I think he is doing something for ESPN now and he needs to be able to earn a full time living. So that leaves us with Gordy Rush. Rush is young enough to do it for the next 25 or so years and he already has a good job with Guaranty Broadcasting here in Baton Rouge so he wouldn't have to depend on the analyst pay for his living. If Moreau steps down my money is on Gordy taking the job.
Health is about the only thing that could move Moreau. Gordy does the Les Miles show and could work in Moreaus place. There are a number of guys that could take Moreau's place, Mawae, Todd McClure, etc. I might have a little more info after tomorrow, stay tuned.
