yep. which has me thinking the way i am about my votes for state offices. splitting the power. i really dont want to see either party have a lock on both branches. if i dont like any of my choices, or i do like them all the same, i will hedge my bets and vote in a way that will balance the power, based on predictions of outcomes, or how that balance (or lack of) is currently.
That pretty naive. They never did before. They have always listened to the special interests who fund their elections--big business, the ultra-rich, evangelicals, and tea baggers. That's Karl Rove 101, put in place in 2001 and practiced with iron boots by the GOP until they lost in 2006. Did you think there wouldn't be some payback? Naivety again. Or more SF trying to rewrite history. On this we can agree. Until a centrist, moderate third party emerges, the Dems and GOP will continue to be polarized and agree on nothing. Politics will swing like a pendulum from left to right unless we put some weight behind politicians who lean to the middle from wherever they stand and are willing to make compromises.
This impending house cleaning has you going over the edge. It's a new day. It's not Dem or GOP. It's listen to us or GTFO.
You're dreaming again, like when you guaranteed me the republicans would not lose Congress in 2006 or the White House in 2008. Listen up, Mr. Clean. The White House will remain Democratic--100% certainty. The Senate will remain democratic-95% certainty. The House may gain a single-digit Republican majority. New day, my ass.
Democrats are placing their faith in these "locked and loaded" machines.... pretty long piece, if you don't want to read the article at least listen to the first minute of the video clip, you only need to listen the first part to get the point. That Republican 2010 Landslide and What It Means The incumbent won the election based on machines that weren't even located at a polling station. Wow!
and i agree. the dems had the perfect opportunity to stay in power by governing from the middle and building bi-partisan support. they have no one to blame but themselves when we see a swing back to the right. its not if thats gonna happen, its how many legislative bodies/branches of govt and how fast. and how far to the right it goes.
You're dreaming. Politicians are not stupid. Obama and the remaining Dems in the Senate know they'll be out on their asses in 2 years if they don't start listening to those of us who decide their fate. Libs like you carry no weight anymore. It only took 2 years to show America what your kind of leader is capable of.
Just remember red, due to the large expected turnouts, dems are encouraged to vote on Wed to keep the lines down. sad thing is the cheating bastards would probably allow you to.
Bad politicians and poor policies aren't owned exclusively by either party but it's amazing how almost every cheating scandal and/or investigation seems to involve Democrats. It's also rare to have a Republican, Independent, etc. argue for the "right" to vote as a non-immigrant visitor, illegal alien, felon, or without identification. This always comes from one party and that's why I don't trust them. They don't put America or the citizens first.
A year ago it was inconceivable Republicans would take over any branch of government. Break the filibuster, sure. Gain some seats, sure. Take over? No way. A year ago Obama was still enjoying high public opinion ratings, looking like he would be a likely 2nd term President. Now though, very questionable and unlikely. His approval ratings have plummeted and it would be historic if they go back up. Many people used to think, like me, that Obama was simply being handled and directed by his inner circle. Now, many people see that Obama was actually being himself and dislike what they see. The next two years will be an absolute train wreck. Split houses (likely), filibusters, Congress battling the White House, etc. etc. Nothing will get done.
