http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/indianajones/voteBand ESPN is holding a Battle of the Bands. The prize money will go toward the new band hall. The voting starts on September 29th. The poll up there right now asks what team will bring home the :crystal:. EDIT: Updated link now that voting is active for the Band contest.
Georgia's band is in this thing? Georgia?!? I HATE GEORGIA'S BAND!! I hate that they play "Whole Lotta Love" over and over again during games; it sounds ridiculous. I hate that they play Battle Hymn of the Republic as their fight song....."Glory, glory, hallelujah, we made a first down!" Georgia's band being included cheapens the contest.
It looks like they took all the probably NC contenders preseason, which would be why Clemson looks like the odd-man-out of the mix. I would guess that some other schools declined the invitation.
Yes, I'm wondering how ESPN came up with something like this and didn't include THE Ohio State University band? And although I'll always believe TGBFTL is, was and always will be the best, they should have A&M in there as well. Military, as opposed to a showband....I'll bet they can play the hell out of the Indy Jones theme.
A little off topic here, but still about the GBFTL - Did anyone else notice how LOUD the Tiger Band was on the ESPN broadcast the other night? I could here them playing all our favorites throughout the game.... I especially love to hear Tiger Rag - means we're scoring! Great Job, Tiger Band. Almost as good as we were back in 1970! (But just as proud of you as I was when I was on the field!) If Pregame doesn't give ya the shivers, you're not really a Tiger football fan!
I'll never forget my first time stepping out onto the field for pregame. Nothing before or since has ever come close. Tiger Band is definitely the best in the land! As for Georgia, it has been a while since I have seen them, but I seem to remember them being pretty decent. Their repertoire may be lame, but I think they have pretty consistently been musically sound. I don't remember any other bands from my day being worth a crap.
I did. But it wasn't only the band. Our fans were incredible. We took over J-H Stadium. BTW, didn't the GBFTL already get a new band hall or am I thinking about something else?
We're kicking butt in the voting. 47% with Florida and Clemson next @ 17%. Take 5 seconds to click on the link & vote for the best band in college football. :thumb:
This isn't the band thing. It is just for who wins team-wise. The band stuff starts next Monday, and lasts a week or two.
