oh yeah. extremely close if not MUCH better. college ball is a lot bigger in most areas of the country. granted minor league ball is big in SOME markets, but overall college ball is better followed. you get residual following from major league organizations that like to keep an eye on their farm programs, but in college you get a legitimate shot at starting for more than one season without having to worry about being traded or cut. maybe the competition is better in minor league, but i think that the level LSU plays at is pretty intense. college pitching is getting pretty unbelievable.
