Tennessee backing out of deal with Greg Schiano after fan backlash Pete Thamel Yahoo SportsNov 26, 2017, 7:08 PM Tennessee officials have called Greg Schiano’s representatives and told them they are backing out of their agreement to make him the next football coach at Tennessee. There’s a signed Memorandum of Understanding between Schiano and athletic director John Currie, which they agreed to and signed in Columbus earlier today.
Is Rocky Top the home of Rocky and Bullwinkle? What a laughingstock. Bad enough to hire him in the first place but then to back out before the ink is dry on whatever agreement they signed. Tennessee is now Vanderbilt without the smart kids. Did their AD take lessons from Joe Alleva? Will Peyton Manning be the next Vol's coach?
Makes perfect sense. Hire a guy who doesn't like to recruit in a state that desperately needs out of state talent to succeed.
What upper tier coach is going to want that job now? The new buzz word around Knoxville is 'Grumors'. Can they coax Gruden out of the booth for $8m-10m per? Sounds high until you remember that FU gave Mullen $7m.
I’m so glad we get the gaytors every year and the gumps get these guys. Freaking start the season with a W in the win/loss column already in this game date. Almost feel bad for the Vols.
