And I thought we had offense issues.... On 3rd down conversions, the Vols are ranked 119 out of 120 (they've converted 11 out of 58)...about 19%. Good teams are around 40%. 24 of the 58 have been 3rd and 10 yards or longer. Against UAB they were only 2 of 15. The longest conversion this year was a 3rd and 6. "Rampant inexperience is the chief culprit, manifested in problems with pass protection, run blocking, route running and accurate and timely throws." This could be a long night for UT.....
They are not as good as us, but the rule of never underestimate still applies. Dooley will prove to be a very effective coach I think, and Tenn has absolutely everything to gain by beating us. Not to mention, I remember a certain new coach that got taught a lesson in SEC play by losing to Tenn despite being significantly ahead
And that same coach getting run circles around for 3 quarters by a certain other coach who was coaching a much lesser team just last year. This has trap game written all over it. Les better have his boys amped up and ready to go.
Considering the fact that we routinely play down to our competition I am still worried about this one. I would love to beat down the Vols but I am concerned. It's up to les and JJ to prove me wrong this week.
I think he does. Regardless of whether you like him or not, he has done that for closing in on 78% of the time. But I don't think you would be a good coach by telling your team "Oh, don't even try. We've got this licked and we will kill them without any effort." If the team chooses not to listen though, it ends up bad.
Their offense is going to have a LOT of trouble in this game. First, because they aren't that good. Second, they are going against Chavis' defense. I would think that the defensive players on LSU's team are going to bring it up a notch or two against Chavis' old school. This is a big game for Chavis and LSU is going to BRING IT.
