I'm not close to being a recruiting guru, but I sure hope we have some big names coming tomorrow! Night game, death valley - let the kids see what LSU can be like. (Unless of course they're all coming for visits during the UF game... Then by all means, stay home future Tigers and watch this one on TV)
J.B. Shugarts - OSU commit http://lsu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=44881 -Brandon Thompson http://lsu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=62325 Im sure there will be more, mixed with a few early commits.
Shugarts was banged up in his game last night and taken off the field. Sounds like (I wasn't there) he got rolled up from behind and had his knee iced the remainder of the game. If he shows up anyway it's a good sign in more ways than one.
His injury isn't as bad as previously thought, but he did not make the trip. LSU is still a major player for his services, however.
I don't know who we had visiting last night but a player can't get anything more from a visit than we offered last night. (Well unless you pay for the player's parents' house payment. :yelwink2: ) *Two Top-10 ranked opponents *92,700+ fans *ESPN Gameday on campus *Chance to meet Shaq *Complete domination *598 yards offense against a top-rated defense *Nationally televised game *Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium!!! It doesn't get any better than last night!
I'm posting a little less these days, if a poster has it right, no need to just agree with them. But this is an important point. Man, if you were a recruit, how could you NOT want to come and be a part of what is going on in Baton Rouge? We've got it rolling, let's keep it going!
Our biggest selling point, will be the spread offense that Gary Crowton is slowly implementing. We watch Oregon destroy Michigan with it, and once LSU players have the full play book...it will put up 600yards per game. The thing thats most dominate about this offense, is that it exposes weak defenses. If you have great LBers, but no good DL...you are in trouble. In VT case, they had fast LBers and CBs, but sub-par DL. It showed tonight, and you cant ask VT LBers to run down 4.3 RB's from behind all night. Players will want to play in this offense, it's the new trend on offense. I think Jimbo leaving was the best thing for our program. It allowed Gary Crowton to come in and utilize LSU's team speed with the Spread. I honestly feel that if we would have been running Jimbo's offense with the I formation, the game would have been closer. just my opinion, but I'm very excited about the new plays in the spread. And you know recruits that were there, and watching on TV...were like "Whoa, now thats how I want to play, and dominate a #9 team"
