Off topic but related...Keiland Williams was interviewed on Big Dave Thibodeaux's radio show yesterday. He said that after he committed to LSU, Petey personally visited him and put the bull's rush on him. Petey guaranteed him a starting spot and told him that, although they recruited several running backs, none had his size so he was guaranteed a spot. Also, he gave him the NC/Heisman crap. KW said he was also getting a lot of "barroom lawyer" advice telling him that USC gave him a better shot at national honors like the Heisman, etc.etc. He said he was swayed some and confused, but in reality, it was always LSU. Edit: KW also said, in response to a question about possible redshirting: Fuhgeddaboutit! Not gonna happen.
Translation of Patricia's comments to KW: "Look the media is in USC's back pocket. Any player would have to do 100% better than you do in order to beat you out of any award where the media is involved. Even if the media doesn't vote, they can bury any non-UCS player in bad press or ignore him all together. Don't worry about the National Championship either. If we don't win it, we just claim that we do. The media elites back us and all is good. As an added plus, we have great 'whine' in California."
It's too bad that if Hazelton selects PSU, the recruiting rankings for USC won't change--no one is going to go and recalculate their point total....heaven forbid USC gets stripped of being #1 in anything football related.
It sounds like Hazelton would like to go to USC but his parents want him to go to PSU. I think I read it on Rivals, but it was basically saying his whole entire family visited PSU with him because that is where thye want him to go (good choice). Let the kid make up his own mind!
Let him smoke crack too. He's 18. Let him do what he wants to. Parents should just STFU and keep the $$ rolling in.
His dad must REALLY not trust his abilities to shut out all the Los Angeles distractions and focus on school because that's the primary reason why his father is against USC--because he doesn't feel his son is mature enough to focus on his education amid the Hollywood lights...
That's messed up. Earned his way to play for any team he chooses and he can't make his own choice... Do parents HAVE to sign it? I dunno the rules about that?
