What offer, as DL coach? From all reports Monte Kiffin will be the DC so DL coach would be a step down from his current gig.

So you've got proof in writing from an LSU athletics dept. member that VK was offered the job and he turned it down?

How do you know he wasn't offered? Grad probably knows one or two people at LSU.

So do I, that doesn't mean I know anything about the inner workings of the athletic dept. There is a whole lot of speculation that is presented as fact on this board from people just as clueless as the next. Not a shot at Grad or anyone else but there are waaaaay too many people that claim to be in the know that really aren't.

Anyone can claim to be "in the know", and say oh yeah I know a guy who told me, blah blah blah... and he heard it from the guy he works with who heard it from the janitor at LSUs practice facility. Still doesn't make it true.
Until VK says he was offered the job in print, or Miles says he offered it to VK, nothing but written proof makes me a believer he chose K-State over LSU.

Yes, DL coach. College DL coach is a step down from NFL DL coach, but Orgerson loves college football recruiting:

Orgeron said he would always consider LSU or Tennessee if either school were interested, but hasn't been contacted by anybody about a position.
    ...
Orgeron said...he'd always consider talking to LSU [or Tennessee] about "a move up in the status of what I'm doing."

"I love coaching in the NFL, but chasing the hunt this time of year of going to get the best player to commit to your team is always something I really enjoy," Orgeron said.

I read those quotes and watched the video of the interview. I got the strong feeling that the "a move up" part meant a DC job.

Point was you dont know that it wasnt true either. No need to call out someone for proof if you dont have proof for your side of the argument.

That makes sense. Maybe he would be cool taking a college position as DL/co-DC or DL/Asst Head Coach or something. But considering that Ed was head coach at Ole Miss, and that Ole Miss program he built just beat the last two national champs Florida and LSU on the road this year, you'd think Ed O should be able to sell himself to some school looking for a new head coach. Miss State?
