we get him the ball, he just drops it way too much. much like Lafell when Lafell was a soph. his biggest drop was the TD vs Penn State that cost us the game. he also had a big drop against Auburn. go search "Randle dropped passes" and you'll find plenty to read

also, i'm not sure Randle has elite speed. he was only listed with a 4.5 forty as a recruit, and i wouldn't be surprised if that is really his forty time

but he was only a soph. i do think he's going to much better as a junior, and i think he's on pace to get drafted

Exactly what I said, we have unlimited potential at WR. However it's hard to get better grades by the talking heads until someone proves that it's more than just potential. This group of WR's could be great. Several need to step up and we need a QB to step up as well.

Has the tools, yes. LSU is absolutely loaded with WR's that have the tools. However having the tools and producing are two totally different things. Some people seem to be having difficulty separating the two. I'm not saying he doesn't have the potential to be a big time WR, I'm saying he hasn't done the job yet. If it were based on potential alone Perrilloux would have 4 Heisman trophies like he claimed he would.

He has elite enough speed to outrun Barron to the endzone, which is more than can be said for Shep.

Randle was always the WR that I thought was the most clutch. He reminded me of Demetrius Byrd and Early Doucet in that manner. LaFell was different in that he had all the physical tools but lacked the confidence and focus to catch the ball, but he mastered it. Speed is overrated...ability to get open --> underrated

OK, I took your advice and looked. Here's what I found.

I found someone yakkin on TOS about Randle's drop costing us the AU game, and a bunch of people responding about the fact that the pass was two feet over his head...although he did get both hands on it.

Other than that, I got a link regarding the Steelers and Randle El dropping passes, and a link about Randall Cobb dropping passes due to an injury or something. Just didn't find 'plenty to read', and most of what's there isn't about Reuben Randle.

And BTW...it's kinda laughable that you claim "we get him the ball". Brother, don't know what you watched last year...but we didn't get ANYONE the ball.

You could be right but it's his ability to make defenders miss him after making the catch makes up a lot in that regard. He's elusive as hell.

Good point. I remember having this same conversation and arguing for LaFell who had put up better numbers his soph year than Bowe had in his.

Shep was the one I see in my mind dropping pass after pass but in his defense, many were thrown behind him so I'm not really sure how much of that is on him either. I know if I'm a running a wheel route and the ball doesn't hit me in stride, I'm going to panic and may drop a lot of them too. Those SEC defenders converge quickly and seconds matter.

I'm not defending him though, I'm still on the fence with him though disappointed in his overall output, regardless of the reason(s).

problem was you didn't put the Reuben in there. type in Reuben Randle dropped passes and you'll have enough reading material to last you all night

as for the drop versus Auburn last year, here's the student newspaper on it:

Football: Dropped passes, mistakes hinder LSU in loss to Auburn - Sports - The Daily Reveille

but what you should do is go back and watch the actual games yourself. if you do that, you'll see with your own eyes that Randle drops way more than his fair share of catches
