What do you think about the message at the bottom of the listed teams?

That Dunkel poll also thought LSU was #1 in 2003.

That Dunkel poll isn't on the level as the AP and the Coaches Poll, but it is still one of the polls relevant enough to be listed on the NCAA's website (see http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/ia_football_past_champs.html) Notice that the Dunkel has been awarding National Championships since 1929, even longer than the AP Poll.

Regardless, I doubt USC is going to officially recognize their 2007 Dunkel National Championship this year. The Dunkel also awarded USC the National Championship in 2002. If USC recognized every single poll, then USC could claim a four-peat (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005). See http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/ia_football_past_champs.html

Honestly, that NCAA site didn't list the polls after 2005. I wonder if one of the obscure 2006 polls gave USC the 2006 National Championship. If that was the case, USC could claim a six-peat (02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07).

They don't count conference championships as a conference win. That's lame.

That's because they would have to drop USC from the top. Can't have that.

Notice that they have Notre Shame at #66. I've noticed this on several other rankings. I think the AP had ND ahead of 5 and 6 win teams.
