Funny you should mention that... I was just sitting here thinking that Fickell's name hasn't been mentioned a whole lot as of late; most have removed him from their lists so it would seem. I'm not saying I think that is who it will be, but I do have a gut feeling that it will be someone that does not have the light shining on him at the moment. I'm not sold on Fickell, but it would be an interesting hire for sure.
I really just do not understand why LSU has a contract ready that is more money in one year than most make in a whole contract, yet all we here is crickets. I am not complaining mind you because I much rather SW keep it private until he is ready, over the Joe three ring circus. I would think other coaches would at least be using it to bump their pay but we here nothing. I am starting to think like most that BR is just a sewer and no amount of money will get us a quality coach. As I said earlier I don't see anyone worth that much included Saban this year, but times have really gotten bad if others are snubbing their nose at a 4-8 million dollar raise. Fickell could work two years here and make more than the whole raise\extension they put together for him @Cincy.
By most accounts, Fickell is a Ohio guy with family obligations and does not want to move. Thinking he is pining for a B10 gig.
I get that, but people make some irrational decisions when presented with the right amount of money. Also, who's to say he can't still wait for a B10 gig while coaching here? Certainly not out of the realm of possiblilty.
