I like Verne, though his best days are behind him. Danielson is OK, though he seems to gush every time someone has a good play against us. I don't often hear that gushing when one of ours does well. I realize that it may be my bias at work.
haha. saying it doesn't mean he can spell it. I think he's really a USL fan. I'm surprised he doesn't throw in the Agricultural and Mechanical part.
I'm guessing they skipped over one thing that would have truly pissed off LSU fans. Earlier when they were talking about how LSU fans were still holding out hope at an outside shot at the NC and Danielson expressed skepticism about that but without coming right out and saying it. Then they were talking about teams playing in the NCG who hadnt won their conference and made an Aflac question out of it--which two teams had played in the NC without winning their conference. Then, later in the broadcast when they flashed the answer to the question on the screen, Vern said to Danielson "I know you have a strong opinion about teams playing in the NC who didnt win their conference." But Danielson was smart enough to say "I have a strong no comment." I know I would have been mightily pissed off if he'd come out and said LSU doesnt deserve to go---and little doubt that is what he believes and what he would have said if it hadnt been an LSU game he was broadcasting. But if he goes around saying LSU doesnt deserve a shot elsewhere on CBS or the media, then he better throw in the caveat "unless Auburn cheated." Credit to them for saying a one loss SEC team deserves a shot at the NC.
It doesn't ...hence why I never said it did. Just said he had a mistake-filled game, which he did. I hate Lundquist, but I don't think he's anti-LSU. Just anti-knowing what is going on at the time, is all.
Danielson really kicked it into high gear, praising the strength of schedule of this one-loss SEC team last night. He was being a good soldier for the SEC, saying show him any of the other top teams that have to play this type of schedule week in and week out, where a 4-6 team is actually filled with comparable talent.
i am of the opinion that a team should have to win their conference to play for the BCS title. I can't change my opinion on it just because it negatively affects my team one year.
and if a team manages to go 11-1 against top 25 teams week in and week out and still cannot win its conference then it must be one hell of a conference
I really don't are for Vern, never have and never will, but it could be worse - how about "Doctor Lou" for your play by play. On another note, it might just be me, but Gary didn't seem to be as anti LSU has he seemed in the past. Anyway, why don't we collect all these announcer threads and all the Saban threads in a box and drop them on Iran. We could eliminate several problems at once.
