Vegas also thought Mike Tyson was going to bury Buster Douglas

I have already talked about my pick at 9-3. One factor I didn't mention is "luck". Some years you don't get the bounces (or calls), and some years you get them. Last year we got a lot of those bounces. Chad Jones on Brodie in the Bama game, D. Byrd last second catch against Auburn, yea we could have lined up and won the game with a time expired field goal, but it was still CLOSE. Five fourth downs against Fla. I figure the law of averages may catch up with us.

If we find young guys who step up and perform and don't make too many mistakes, and with a little luck, we could go 10-2. But we gotta remember, the SEC is tough. Last season, Ky. and Arky both got us. We could drop a game this year to someone we expect to beat.

When you look at those games against FL, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, and Arkansas last year -- we could have just as easily finished the reg season 7-5 as we could have 12-0, just based on a few plays.

    Now I feel a little stupid. :rolleye33:

Then I'm more confident than I was before about LSU's chances in the SEC.

Our d-line will be stout, no doubt. RJF returns, and we get back Charles Alexander who was the starter for the first 3 games, then went out for the year with an ACL. The d-line took a small step back, as Charles was the starter for a reason. We just don't know how healed up Alexander will be.

In addition to Dorsey, we have to replace both corners (one All SEC), both outside LB's (one second team All American), and one safety (Steltz - All American). That's six of 11 gone, and lots of talent.

RJF will step in for Dorsey, so we should stay in good shape there. Chad Jones or someone can step in for Stelz, and we lose a big hitter but probably gain some speed. LB and CB, we have some good underclassmen, but not much experience.

Good to see you stop by! Football season is almost upon us. LSU starts fall practice on 8/4. Preseason, you guys got some love. Top 5 as usual. You guys got your big LB and QB back.

I chose 10-2, but 9-3 is certainly a reasonable possibility.

to be honest, It's been a mixed bag. as expected though, and we have a lot of work to do to justify that preseason ranking. That said, I'm excited about the return of Lawrence Wilson, as it allows Cam Heyward to hopefully move inside and shore up the interior of the DLine. IMO, we have to get that figured out, not to mention getting our D coordinator Jim Heacock to be more aggressive in playcalling or we're in a lot of trouble.

always good to stop by, thanks again for having me.

According to the poll, the majority expected LSU to finish this season with 2-3 losses. We only have one loss right now. Hopefully we take down Alabama and Georgia and nobody else sneaks us along the way.
