I won't accept 9-3 seasons as "successful" anymore. Not with the recruiting seasons we have been consistently having (and they are only getting better).
I picked us 9-3 a couple of months ago, sticking with it. Inexperience at QB and CB, outside LB. It is POSSIBLE to succeed from that spot, but those are long shot odds. The best receivers in the world are useless if the QB can't get the ball to them (I don't expect we'll be that bad at QB, but a weakness there does negate your receivers advantage). We will be underdogs to Auburn, Ga., and Fla. I'm suspecting we'll lose at least 2 of those games, maybe all 3. If we win 1 of those 3, we could still lose to SC or Bama. With Bama, I don't look at Miss St. or ULM last season, I look at how well they played us at their place, and figure they'll be better this year.
I voted 9-3, but 10-2 is a real possibility. I think the inexperience at CB, LB and QB will hurt us. It would be different if we played in a different conference, but this is the SEC. The only way we win the West- win AT AUBURN. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Not accepting 9-3? Do yall know how hard it is to win a game? With a few injuries we could be struggling at certain positions. We're young at corner and qb....not exactly where you want some growing pains. Though their talented and very competitive their still young.
I chose 10-2. I agree that UGA, UF, and AU are the toughest games we have...not to say ALL the conference games aren't tough...but realistically, those three are the toughest. However, I see no reason not to expect us to go 2-1 in those games, and lose one we probably shouldn't...in 3 OT's. So we win the west, and let the chips fall where they may in the SECCG. I have good reason to believe we win the bowl game in blowout fashion, too...so another 11-12 win season. I'm good with that.:thumb:
I assume this is just a regular season over/under? I honestly would take USC on the under. I think they are set up for another 10-2 season. Cinci over Cuse over Missouri under Texas under aTm over Tennessee over Baylor over
I was not surprised to see Florida the SEC favorite at 10. The Urban League is ready for another run. We'll get two chances to knock the snot out of them, the second chance for another shot at the prize. I thought "smart money" would favor LSU or Auburn. It's not game time yet.
So what does this mean? That Vegas doesn't think we'll go 9-3, but that they believe that the gambling public believes that we'll go 9-3? Seems to be a very thin difference to me.
This means vegas has to have or as close to equal money on both sides as they can get. Putting the number at 9 will get people to bet pretty even. If it was at 11 everyone would bet the under, if it was 8 the over so they have to split it best they can so they don't take a bath on it. See?
